  1. 1. Logistic Time Requirements in Fast Sea Transportation Systems

    Author : Thore E.W. Hagman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cycle time; high speed; terminal time; performance; sailing time; total time; fuel consumption; logistic time requirement; power demand;

    Abstract : The dissertation deals with logistic time requirements in fast sea transportation systems and the benefit of the application of the total time definition. The transportation engineering approach, to create new transport systems with high effectiveness, high service levels and also with high resource utilisation, has to some extent gained acceptance in the transportation industry, but it has not been fully realised that the transport system and the traffic system are not identical and that by focusing on high performance of the traffic system no guarantee is given that the transport system will become effective. 2. 2. Occupying Time : Design, Time, and the Form of Interaction

    Author : Ramia Mazé; RISE; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Design; Architecture;

    Abstract : As technology pervades our everyday life and material culture, new possibilities and problematics are raised for design. Attention in contemporary design discourse is shifting ‘beyond the object’, to the qualities of processes and experiences. READ MORE

  3. 3. The clinical value of total isovolumic time

    Author : Gani Bajraktari; Michael Henein; Krister Lindmark; Lars-Åke Brodin; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Heart failure; cardiac resynchronization therapy; predictors; echocardiography; total isovolumic time; six-minute walk test; left ventricular dyssynchrony;

    Abstract : The objective of this thesis is to evaluate the use of Doppler echocardiography markers ofglobal dyssynchrony [total isovolumic time (t-IVT)] in the following 6 studies: 1) Its prognostic role in predicting cardiac events in patients undergoing CABG surgery,compared with conventional global systolic and diastolic measurements. 2) Its additional value in predicting six minute walk test (6-MWT) in patients with leftventricular (LV) ejection fraction (EF) . 4. 4. Visualizing the abyss of time : Students’ interpretation of visualized deep evolutionary time

    Author : Jörgen Stenlund; Konrad Schönborn; Lena Tibell; Gunnar Höst; Camillia Matuk; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Deep evolutionary time; Visualization; Evolution; Science Education; Djup evolutionär tid; Visualiseringar; Naturvetenskapernas didaktik;

    Abstract : The immense time scales involved in Deep evolutionary time (DET) is a threshold concept in biology and interpreting temporal aspects of DET is demanding. DET is communicated through various visualizations that include static two-dimensional representations, low interactivity animations, as well as high interactivity interfaces. READ MORE

  5. 5. On Dental Trauma in Children and Adolescents : Incidence, Risk, Treatment, Time and Costs

    Author : Ulf Glendor; Arne Halling; Lars Andersson; Åke Nygren; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : adolescence; child; time; incidence; costs; permanent dentition; primary dentition; risk; tooth injuries; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Background: Dental trauma occur in childhood and adolescence with consequences in time and costs for both patient and family. The scientific knowledge of these matters is scarce. For some individuals, dental trauma will result in long, time-consuming and costly treatments in childhood which will continue into adulthood. READ MORE
