  2. 2. Prevention and prediction of head and neck injury in traffic accidents - using experimental and numerical methods

    Author : Peter Halldin; KTH; []
    Keywords : Head injuries; neck injuries; prevention; roll-over; motorcycle; helmet;

    Abstract : Injuries to the head and neck system are potentially amongthe most serious injuries in humans, since they may damage thespinal cord. 3. 3. Accidents between pedestrians, bicyclists and motorized vehicles: Accident risk and injury severity

    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Accidents; pedestrians; bicyclists; exposure; risk; consequence; speed; age.;

    Abstract : The aims of this work are to better understand (1) the relation between exposure and the risk of an accident between pedestrians and motorized vehicles and between bicyclists and motorized vehicles occurring at urban intersections and (2) how the speed environment and the victim´s age relate to the injury severity/outcome once a pedestrian or a bicyclist has been struck by a motorized vehicle. Cross sectional studies are used, and the relations are analyzed using multinomial logit models, negative binomial regression and other statistical methods. READ MORE

  4. 4. Traumatic Brain Injuries: Animal Experiments and Numerical Simulations to Support the Development of a Brain Injury Criterion
