  1. 1. Reflections on Process-based Supply Chain Modelling and Analysis

    Author : Robert Lindroth; Teknisk logistik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; process mapping; supply chain management; modelling; simulation.;

    Abstract : The interest in modelling, analysis and optimisation of supply chain structures has increased in the last decade. Among the reasons are globalisation, a general speed-up of the rate of change in the business environment, the trend towards more outsourcing of activities, and the rapid development in IT. 2. 2. Ridged sea ice modelling in climate applications

    Author : Sebastian Mårtensson; Markus Meier; Kristofer Döös; Peter A. Lundberg; Frank Kauker; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arctic ocean; Baltic Sea; sea ice; ice dynamics; numerical modelling; climate; ice deformation; ice compression; physical and biogeochemical interactions; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Abstract : This work aims to increase our understanding of the nature of large scale features of sea ice from a dynamics point of view.Sea ice plays an important part in the exchange of heat and humidity between sea and air and thus is an important component of the climate system. READ MORE

  3. 3. Modelling and Simulating Demand-Responsive Transport

    Author : Sergei Dytckov; Jan A. Persson; Paul Davidsson; Erik Jenelius; Malmö universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; On-Demand Mobility; Demand Responsive Transport; Modelling and Simulation; Sustainability;

    Abstract : Public transport is an efficient way to transport large volumes of travellers. However, there are systemic issues that make it hard for conventional public transport to provide efficient service on finer levels, like first- and last-mile problems or low-demand areas. READ MORE

  4. 4. On modelling of slope stability in sensitive clay

    Author : Carolina Sellin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; constitutive modelling; mobilisation of shear strength; destructuration; slope stability; anisotropy; sensitive clay; rate dependence;

    Abstract : The stability of natural slopes is a global problem, with the number of landslides and the associated socioeconomic losses increasing, as a result of the global trend of urbanisation, deforestation and changed weather patterns. The available methods for identifying potential failure modes and assessing the stability, however, overly simplify the modelled soil behaviour within a slope, which might lead to unnecessary mitigation measures or non-conservative results. 5. 5. Terrain Modelling with GIS for Tectonic Geomorphology : Numerical Methods and Applications

    Author : Gyözö Jordan; Ulf Qvarfort; Tsehaie Woldai; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Environmental technology; digital elevation model; digital terrain modelling; GIS; morphometry; tectonic geomorphology; Miljöteknik; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Abstract : Analysis of digital elevation models (DEMs) by means of geomorphometry provides means of recognising fractures and characterising the morphotectonics of an area in a quantitative way. The objective of the thesis is to develop numerical methods and a consistent GIS methodology for tectonic geomorphology and apply it to test sites. READ MORE
