  1. 1. Signal Transduction by Proline-Rich Tyrosine Kinase Pyk2

    Author : Inga Dikic; Olli Silvennoinen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Onkologi; Protein phosphorylation; tyrosine kinase; Pyk2 FAK; neuronal differentiation; Ras MAP kinase pathway; Oncology; Onkologi; molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Abstract : The proline-rich tyrosine kinase (Pyk2) together with focal adhesion kinase (FAK) define a family of non-receptor protein tyrosine kinases that are regulated by diverse stimuli. Activation of Pyk2 has been implicated in multiple signaling events, including modulation of ion channels, activation of MAP kinase cascades and apoptotic cell death. READ MORE

  2. 2. Amino acid sequence and side chain specific synthetic receptors targeting protein phosphorylation

    Author : Anil Incel; Frank Kjeldsen; Malmö universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; imprinted polymers; synthetic receptors; PTM; phosphorylation; enrichment; diagnosis;

    Abstract : Antibodies have become a critical component of many diagnostic assays and are used for therapeutic purposes. Nevertheless they often fail to meet the strict performance demands raised in industry and in the clinic (e.g. stability, reproducibility, selectivity, affinity). READ MORE

  3. 3. Regulation of Drosophila Jun by phosphorylation and the ubiquitin system during eye development

    Author : Anders Isaksson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Genetics; eye development; ubiquitin; D-Jun; phosphorylation; cytogenetics; Genetik; cytogenetik;

    Abstract : The goal of these studies has been to elucidate the biological relevance of post-translational modifications in the context of a living organism. The model system used is photoreceptor differentiation during development of the compound eye in the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster. READ MORE

  4. 4. Understanding molecular mechanisms of protein tyrosine kinases by molecular dynamics and free energy calculations

    Author : Yaozong Li; Kwangho Nam; Magnus Wolf-Watz; Amedeo Caflisch; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; kinase; IRK; IGF-1RK; phosphorylation; activation loop; molecular dynamics; phosphoryl transfer; alchemical free energy; dynamical network; correlation map; PCA; motion projection; Gaussian softcore; free energy landscape; kinase catalysis;

    Abstract : Background: Insulin receptor kinase (IRK) and Insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor kinase (IGF-1RK) are two important members in the large class of tyrosine kinase receptors. They play pivotalroles in the regulation of glucose homeostasis, cell proliferation, differentiation, motility, andtransformation. READ MORE

    Abstract : Originally studying the molecular mechanisms for the insulin-like effects of growth hormone (GH), lipogenesis and antilipolysis, in isolated rat adipocytes we found that the GH receptor (GHR) was tyrosine phosphorylated in response to GH in cells that were responsive to these effects. Then, as Janus kinase 2 (JAK2) was described as a GH-stimulated and GHR-associated tyrosine kinase, we found that JAK2 was tyrosine phosphorylated in response to GH in responsive cells. READ MORE
