  1. 1. Managing hydrogeological risks in underground construction

    Author : Johanna Merisalu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; risk management; groundwater drawdown-induced damages; cost–benefit analysis; uncertainties; decision support;

    Abstract : Groundwater leakage into underground constructions can cause groundwater drawdown and subsequently costly damages to objects impacted by changes in groundwater conditions. In order to reduce the damage risk, risk-reducing measures can be implemented. READ MORE

  2. 2. Working in underground offices

    Author : Edit Nagy; Institutionen för psykologi; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Applied and experimental psychology; multidimensional scaling techniques; multiple sorting task; survey construction; conceptual systems; employee perceptions; underground offices; Work environment; Japan; Japan; Tillämpad och experimentell psykologi;

    Abstract : The present doctoral dissertation discusses Japanese office employees' psychological reactions to their underground work environment. Studies I and III were methodological in nature and aimed at developing and validating instruments to be used in the empirical studies. READ MORE

  3. 3. Assisted Tele-Remote Control of Wheel Loaders in Underground Mining

    Author : Siddharth Dadhich; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Industrial Electronics; Industriell elektronik;

    Abstract : Tele-remote operation of mobile earth-moving machines in underground mines supported byoperator assistance functions is attractive for safety and productivity reasons. This way, operatorscan avoid hazardous underground environments with poor air quality and the productivitycan, in principle, be improved by saving the time required to commute drivers to and fromthe operational areas. 5. 5. Groundwater chemistry affected by underground construction activities

    Author : Fredrik Mossmark; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : A leaking underground construction increases the groundwater recharge and decreases the residence time of the groundwater. If groundwater of a certain chemical composition dominated the location inside the bedrock of a planned tunnel prior to the construction phase, this water is likely to be replaced by water of a different chemical type because of leakage of water into the tunnel during the construction and operational phases.
