  1. 1. Gear Surface Machining for Noise Suppression

    Author : Naser Amini; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; gear grinding; gear shaving; gears; undulation; surface topography; noise; automotive gearboxes; ghost harmonics; gear honing;

    Abstract : Gear noise in modern automobiles is unacceptable. It has different sources, such as design parameters and manufacturing errors. Manufacturing errors, for example, can be reduced using advanced grinding operations. However, sometimes grinding operations can introduce micro-geometry deviations that cause severe noise problems. 2. 2. Polymer effects on microemulsions and lamellar phases

    Author : Håkan Bagger-Jörgensen; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Poisson-Boltzmann equation; hard sphere; osmometry; small angle scattering; phase behaviour; hydrophobically modified polyelectrolyte; hydrophobically modified polymer; nonionic surfactant; microemulsion; lamellar phase; undulation force; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : The main part of this thesis deals with the effects of adsorbing and non-adsorbing polymers when mixed with microemulsion droplets and bilayers in a lamellar phase. The phase behaviour, microstructure and interactions in a nonionic surfactant/ water/ oil-system, comprising penta ethylene oxide dodecyl ether (C12E5) and decane, was investigated. READ MORE

  3. 3. Structural Changes in Nonionic Surfactant Systems

    Author : Sanja Bulut; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Vesicles; Nonionic Surfactant; Wormlike Micelles; Lamellar Phase; NMR; MRI; SLS; DLS; cryo-fracture-TEM; centrifugation; cryo-TEM;

    Abstract : In this thesis we have studied structural changes of a nonionic surfactant self-assembly, as governed by changes in temperature and concentration. The techniques used in experimental investigations were dynamic and static light scattering, nuclear magnetic resonance and cryo-transmission electron microscopy (using a novel specimen preparation protocol). 4. 4. On the Combustion Characteristics of Closely-Coupled LD Diesel Injection Strategies

    Author : Michael Denny; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Diesel combustion; Closely-Coupled Pilot; Closely-Spaced Pilot; Combustion Noise; Heat release rate shaping; Multiple-injection strategy; Formaldehyde PLIF;

    Abstract : Multiple-pilot injection strategies with both moderate and short time separations (dwells) are investigated in a light-duty diesel engine. Both conventional and optical engine experiments are performed. READ MORE

  5. 5. Life Prediction and Mechanical Behavior of Thermal Barrier Coatings

    Author : Yan Liu; Materialteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Stress intensity factors; Macro-cracks; Micro-cracks; Mechanical behaviour; Thermal barrier coatings; Life prediction; Material technology; Materiallära; materialteknik;

    Abstract : Delamination and spallation of thermal barrier coating (TBC) systems, used in hot parts of gas turbines, have been studied with respect to thermal fatigue. TBCs with and without pre-existing cracks were investigated. Thermal shock tests were performed until coating spallation. READ MORE
