  1. 1. Water Absorption in Two-Layer Masonry Systems - Properties, profiles and predictions

    Author : Peter Johansson; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; moisture-diffusivities; masonry; measuremets; moisture-profiles; Material technology; simulations; sorption-isotherms; Materiallära; materialteknik;

    Abstract : The main impetus for this research was the desire to verify models for determining transient moisture profiles in the capillary range. For the evaluations, transient moisture profiles were both simulated and measured, after which the results of the two methods were compared. READ MORE

  2. 2. Formic acid adsorption and photodecomposition on rutile TiO2 (110) : An in situ infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy study

    Author : Andreas Mattsson; Lars Österlund; Gunnar Niklasson; Claes-Göran Granqvist; Håkan Rensmo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : TiO2 based photocatalysis is an emerging green nanotechnology that can be used forremoval of pollutants from water and air. It has had an increased research interest, bothfrom an application and fundamental point of view, during the last decades. READ MORE

  3. 3. Ultrafast dynamics of small quantum systems studied using electron-ion coincidence spectroscopy

    Author : Smita Ganguly; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; coincidence spectroscopy; photodissociation dynamics; fragmentation reaction; MOLECULAR-BEAM; Cluster fission; Astrochemistry; Carbon dioxide CO2 ; ; Adamantane;

    Abstract : Studying how small quantum systems, like molecules and clusters, interact with X-rays is crucial to understanding the ultrafast processes that occur in nature on incredibly short timescales, ranging from femtoseconds to picoseconds. X-rays excite small quantum systems to unstable core hole states, leading to a cascade of phenomena, including Auger decay, nuclear rearrangement, and dissociation. READ MORE

  4. 4. In Situ Soft X-ray Spectroscopies Applied to Atmospheric Corrosion And Related Systems

    Author : Johan Forsberg; Joseph Nordgren; Laurent Duda; Clemens Heske; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the application of various soft x-ray spectroscopic methods (soft x-ray absorption, SXA, and emission, SXE) to complex, non-vacuum compatible systems, including liquids and multi-phase systems. The design, construction, and application of new instrumentation for in situ spectroscopy is described in detail. READ MORE

  5. 5. Astrochemical Surface Science: Water Desorption from Nanostructured Graphite

    Author : Anna Clemens; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; intercalation; temperature programmed desorption; diffuse reflection; geometrical resonances; water ice; ultra high vacuum;

    Abstract : To date, around 180 different molecules have been identified in the interstellar medium (ISM). Some of them form molecular ices on cold interstellar dust grain surfaces. An interstellar dust grain particle is in the order of nanometres in size and is usually composed of a carbonaceous or silicatious grain core. READ MORE
