  1. 1. Value Grounded on Attitudes. Subjectivism in Value Theory

    Author : Fritz-Anton Fritzson; Praktisk filosofi; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Subjectivism; objectivism; relativism; absolutism; value and attitudes; supervenience and constitutive ground of value; final value; intrinsic value; good and good for; motivational internalism; idealization; value projection; error and evaluative language;

    Abstract : The thesis examines a specific way of understanding the subjectivist position in value theory according to which subjectivism is the view that value is grounded on attitudes. It is argued that this should be seen as a second-order claim about the nature of value although with pluralistic implications on the substantial, first-order level. READ MORE

  2. 2. Alterations in circadian entrainment : translational value in major depression

    Author : Frederik Elberling; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Adverse conditions of different origin occurring during development can have a negative impact on the nervous system and increase risk for the onset of mental disorders. In mice prenatal exposure to excess glucocorticoids (GC) leads to late onset depression-like behaviour in males which is preceded by alterations in circadian entrainment. READ MORE

  3. 3. The Use of Landweber Algorithm in Image Reconstruction

    Author : Touraj Nikazad; Tommy Elfving; George Baravdish; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; convex feasibility; projection methods; simultaneous algorithms; iterative methods; stopping rules; semi-convergence; Numerical analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Abstract : Ill-posed sets of linear equations typically arise when discretizing certain types of integral transforms. A well known example is image reconstruction, which can be modelled using the Radon transform. After expanding the solution into a finite series of basis functions a large, sparse and ill-conditioned linear system arises. READ MORE

  4. 4. Impact of Climate Change on Extreme Events: Insights from Asia and Scandinavia

    Author : Dong An; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Climate change; extreme events; precipitation extremes; droughts; climate variability; ENSO; climate model; climate projection; the Asia-Pacific region; scandinavia;

    Abstract : As climate has warmed significantly over past decades, numerous studies have confirmed a pattern of more frequent and more intense hydro-climate events across the globe, such as floods, heatwaves, and droughts. Analyzing the variability of climate events with reliable historical data records is one of the most direct approaches for understanding its patterns of change. READ MORE

  5. 5. Asset Liability Management for Tanzania Pension Funds

    Author : Andongwisye John Mwakisisile; Torbjörn Larsson; Martin Singull; Per Olov Lindberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis presents a long-term asset liability management for Tanzania pension funds. As an application, the largest pension fund in Tanzania is considered. This is a pay-as-you-go pension fund where the contributions are used to pay current benefits. The Pension plan analyzed is a final salary defined benefit. READ MORE
