2. Microcalorimetric methods for direct measurement of solubility and solvent activity
Abstract : New calorimetric methods for direct measurement of solubility and solvent activity are presented. The classical role of calorimetry for measurements of enthalpic parameters is abandoned and the technique is instead used for assessing thermodynamic quantities related to the chemical potential of a substance in a solution. 3. Lipase-Catalysed Lipid Modifications in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide
Abstract : The production of ethyl esters (EE) from ethanol and cod-liver oil by an immobilised lipase in supercritical carbon dioxide (SCCO2) is described. This reaction results in a complex mixture of lipid components consisting of triglycerides, diglycerides, monoglycerides and ethyl esters. READ MORE

4. Flow Boiling Heat Transfer and Pressure Drop. Experiments and Model Development for Complex Geometries
Abstract : Two very different evaporator geometries, a dimple plate and a herringbone microfin tube, have been studied. Heat transfer and pressure drop for both pure refrigerants and refrigerant mixtures have been determined experimentally. READ MORE

5. On the Oxidation Behaviour of MoSi2 and (Mo,W)Si2 - The Influence of Oxygen and Water Vapour
Abstract : This thesis deals with the oxidation of a clay-bonded MoSi2 composite (KanthalSuper 1800) and a clay-bonded (Mo,W)Si2-based composite (KanthalSuper 1900) which are used as heating elements at temperatures of up to approximately 1800°C and 1850°C, respectively, in industrial furnaces. These ceramics are ideal for use at these temperatures due to their excellent oxidation behaviour at high temperatures, which is ascribed to the formation of a protective silica scale. READ MORE
