1. Event stratigraphy for the Last Glacial-Holocene transition in eastern middle Sweden
Abstract : This thesis outlines an event stratigraphy for the Last Glacial-Holocene transition in eastern middle Sweden. Events are short-lived occurrences that have left traces in the geological record and which, therefore, may be used for correlation and inter-regional comparisons. READ MORE

2. Climatic signals and frequencies in the Swedish Time Scale, River Ångermanälven, Central Sweden
Abstract : Any future climate variation forced by human activities will be superimposed on the background of natural climate variation. Therefore, before interpreting the present climate and addressing future climate scenarios some knowledge of past climate is necessary. READ MORE

3. Setting the Holocene clock using varved lake sediments in Sweden
Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to study annually laminated (varved) Holocene lake sediment in Sweden, their formation and their potential as chronological and palaeoecological archives. Five lakes with continuous Holocene varved lake sediment sequences in northern (Västerbotten) and west central Sweden (Värmland) were investigated. READ MORE

4. Deglacial impact of the Scandinavian Ice Sheet on the North Atlantic climate system
Abstract : The long warming transition from the Last Ice Age into the present Interglacial period, the last deglaciation, holds the key to our understanding of future abrupt climate change. In the last decades, a great effort has been put into deciphering the linkage between freshwater fluxes from melting ice sheets and rapid shifts in global ocean-atmospheric circulation that characterized this puzzling climate period. 5. Pollen analysis, chronology and palaeomagnetism of three Late Weichselian sites in southern Sweden
Abstract : Three sites, Torreberga in Skåne, Farslycke in Blekinge and Lake Bolmen in Småland, with Late Weichselian lake sediments were studied with respect to pollen analysis and palaeomagnetism. The chronologies are based on pollen stratigraphical correlations, radiocarbon dating and, for two of the sites, on a clay-varve chronology. READ MORE
