  1. 1. On the Extraction of Essential Oils by Supercritical Carbon Dioxide and its Influence on the Mesomorphic Phase Structures

    Author : José da Cruz Francisco; Kemiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Natural oils; fats and waxes technology; Naturliga oljor; fetter; vax; Kemiteknik och kemisk teknologi; Chemical technology and engineering; Livsmedelsteknik; Food and drink technology; phase behavior; soybean lecithin; monoolein; cineole; terpenes; eucalyptus; extraction; Essential oils; supercritical carbon dioxide;

    Abstract : A comparison of essential oils from leaves of Eucalyptus camaldulensis Dehn. obtained by hydrodistillation (HD) and supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) extraction is presented. Selected major components of the oils showed a predominance of higher molecular weight components in the SC-CO2 extracts than in those obtained by HD. READ MORE

  2. 2. An interactive flowcharting technique for communicating and realizing algorithms

    Author : Arne Jönsson; Mikael Patel; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the design, specification, implementation and experience of the use of an interactive flowcharting technique for communicating and realizing algorithms. Our goals are: 1) to help novices to understand computers, by giving them a framework for organizing algorithms, and 2) to support development of software produced by groups of people over an extended period of time. 3. 3. An rf-sputtering system and applications to amorphous zinc telluride films

    Author : Per G. Larsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the fabrication and study of amorphous zinc telluride films. Their behaviour on post thermal treatments including crystallization are investigated. READ MORE

  4. 4. Hydrophobic and superhydrophobic coatings for corrosion protection of steel

    Author : Lina Ejenstam; Per M. Claesson; Agne Swerin; Jinshan Pan; Orlando Rojas; KTH; []
    Keywords : Superhydrophobic coating; hydrophobic coating; corrosion protection; contact angles; electrochemical measurements; surface characterization; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Since metals in general, and steels in particular, are vital construction materials in our modern society, the corrosion protection of said materials is of great importance, both to ensure safety and to reduce costs associated to corrosion. Previously, chromium (VI) and other harmful substances were effectively used to provide corrosion protection to steel, but since their use was heavily regulated around year 2000, no coating has yet been developed that, in a fully satisfactory manner, replaces their corrosion protective properties. 5. 5. Improving Productivity and Enzyme Stability Through Process Design: Lipase-catalysed Synthesis of Epoxides and Esters

    Author : Anna Hagström; Bioteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Interest in sustainable development has increased throughout society during the past decades, and the chemical industry is no exception. The appeal for renewable raw materials has consequently increased and has paved the way for the implementation of industrial biotechnology. READ MORE
