    Author : Ulf Thilén; Kardiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MRI; clinical outcome; atrial fibrillation; Atrial septal defect; atrial conduction; remodelling.;

    Abstract : Atrial septal defect (ASD) is the most common congenital heart malformation diagnosed in adult life. In this thesis important clinical, haemodynamic and electrophysiological aspects of ASD in the adult are explored. READ MORE

  3. 3. Functional and morphological MR studies in congenital cardiovascular malformations

    Author : Catarina Holmqvist; Lund Diagnostisk radiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; medicinsk instrumentering; tomografi; radiologi; Klinisk fysiologi; Contrast-enhanced MR angiography.; Coarctation; Intra-cardiac shunts; Conduits; Tetralogy of Fallot; Function; Flow; MR velocity mapping; Infants; Children; Magnetic Resonance Imaging; Angiocardiography; Heart; Congenital heart defects; medical instrumentation; tomography; radiology; Clinical physics;

    Abstract : The aim of this study was to evaluate new MR techniques permitting qualitative and quantitative analysis of cardiac function and measurement of velocity and flow, and later on contrast-enhanced MR angiography, techniques largely unexplored in children with CHD. Infants with tetralogy of Fallot and pulmonary atresia with ventricular septal defect were examined pre-operatively. READ MORE

  4. 4. Follow-up of adults with congenitally malformed hearts with focus on individualised and computer-based education and psychosocial support : A descriptive and interventional study

    Author : Helén Rönning; Eva Swahn; Anna Strömberg; Niels Erik Nielsen; Peter Eriksson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Congenital heart disease; education; information; instrument development; multidisciplinary team; nursing; phenomenography; psychometrics; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Background and aims: Many adults with congenitally malformed hearts are at risk for complications such as decreased function and capacity of the heart due to the heart defect and previously surgery. This advocates self-management behaviours related to medical treatments, physical activity, preventions of endocarditis, some restrictions regarding suitable employment and spare time activities, birth control and pregnancy, but also lifestyle concerns such as refraining from smoking and healthy eating.
