  1. 1. Supporting Video-mediated Communication over the Internet

    Author : Mathias Johanson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; layered multicast; distributed collaborative work; layered video coding; robust video transmission; Internet video; video gateways; video-mediated communication; congestion control; teleconferencing; stereoscopic video;

    Abstract : The tremendous success of the Internet in providing a global communication infrastructure for a wide variety of applications has inspired the invention of packet video systems for synchronous interpersonal communication. The potential benefits of video-mediated communication are numerous, ranging from improved social interactions between individuals to more efficient distributed collaborative work. READ MORE

  2. 2. Low-power design methodologies for embedded internet systems

    Author : Jens Eliasson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Industriell elektronik; Industrial Electronics;

    Abstract : Embedded systems are resource-constrained special-purpose computers, capable of both sensing and controlling the environment they are placed in. An embedded system usually consists of both hardware and software. The hardware can be composed of sensors, actuators, processors, memory storage devices, communication peripherals, and power supplies. READ MORE

  3. 3. Live Streaming in P2P and Hybrid P2P-Cloud Environments for the Open Internet

    Author : Amir H. Payberah; Seif Haridi; Anwitaman Datta; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Peer-to-Peer (P2P) live media streaming is an emerging technology that reduces the barrier to stream live events over the Internet. However, providing a high quality media stream using P2P overlay networks is challenging and gives raise to a number of issues: (i) how to guarantee quality of the service (QoS) in the presence of dynamism, (ii) how to incentivize nodes to participate in media distribution, (iii) how to avoid bottlenecks in the overlay, and (iv) how to deal with nodes that reside behind Network Address Translators gateways (NATs).
