1. LIPASES AND PHOSPHOLIPASES IN PHOSPHOLIPID SYNTHESIS
Abstract : The synthesis of phospholipids with defined fatty acid and polar head composition catalysed by lipases and phospholipases was investigated. Lipases from Rhizopus arrhizus and Candida antarctica were used for the direct acylation of DL-a-glycerophosphate and L-a-glycerophosphatidylcholine, with different fatty acids. READ MORE

2. Transport Properties and Durability of LCP and FRP materials for process equipment
Abstract : This thesis focuses on transport properties and durability of liquid crystalline polymers (LCP)and fibre reinforced plastics (FRP) with regard to application in industrial process equipment. In the first part of the study the possibility of using a thermotropic LCP of type Vectra A950as lining material for FRP process equipment was investigated. 3. Lewis acid Mediated Aza-Diels-Alder Reactions and Asymmetric Alkylations of 2H-azirines
Abstract : This thesis describes the use of 2H-azirines, three-membered unsaturatednitrogen-containing heterocycles, as reactive intermediates ina number of Lewis acid promoted alkylations and Diels-Alderreactions providing synthetically useful aziridines. In order to carry out this investigation a new generalprocedure for the ring closure of vinyl azides, forming theresultant 3-substituted-2H-azirines, was developed applying low boiling solventsin closed reaction vessels at elevated temperatures. 4. Biotransformations of Turpentine Constituents : Oxygenation and Esterification
Abstract : This thesis describes methods to obtain valueaddedcompounds from TMP-turpentine obtained from the spruce, Piceaabies. The methodology focuses on biotransformations using twoapproaches: an oxygenation approach (i.e. oxygenation ofterpene hydrocarbons by cell cultures) and an esterificationapproach (i. READ MORE

5. Wood Nanocellulose Materials and Effects from Surface Modification of Nanoparticles
Abstract : Nanocellulose is an interesting natural material thatis gaining interest in the field of materials science, particularly nanocomposites. Depending on the disintegration route, nanocellulose can be isolated either in the form of long and flexible fibres (nanofibrillated cellulose, NFC), or stiff, rod-like crystals (cellulose nanocrystals, CNC).
