  1. 1. Hepatitis C virus. Aspects on natural history, antibody response, and viral quantification

    University dissertation from Göteborg

    Author : Martin Lagging; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2002]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hepatitis C virus; nosocomial infection; pseudotyped virus; fibrosis; viral quantification;

    Abstract : Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is the major cause of parenterally transmitted non-A, non-B hepatitis, and is associated with chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. Despite the screening of blood products nosocomial spread of HCV continues to occur. READ MORE

  2. 2. Novel Procedures for Identification and Characterization of Viral Proteases Inhibitors

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Angelica Ehrenberg; Uppsala universitet.; [2014]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; drug discovery; viral proteases; inhibitors; Hepatitis C; NS3; cytomegalovirus; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : Viral proteases are often considered to be attractive drug targets because of their crucial function in the viral replication machinery. In order to increase our knowledge of these important targets and to contribute to the discovery and development of new antiviral drugs, the proteases from hepatitis C virus (HCV) and human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) have been produced and their interactions with inhibitors and fragments have been characterized, using enzyme inhibition and SPR biosensor based interaction assay. 3. 3. Hepatitis C virus infection. Viral genotypes and factors promoting liver fibrosis

    University dissertation from Göteborg

    Author : Johan Westin; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2002]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hepatitis C virus; genotypes; epidemiology; liver fibrosis; histology; scoring; prognosis; alcohol; liver steatosis;

    Abstract : Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is associated with chronic infection in a majority of infected individuals. Chronic hepatitis C may result in liver cirrhosis or hepatocellular cancer and is therefore considered a major health problem worldwide. READ MORE

  4. 4. Hepatitis B virus replication and integration

    University dissertation from Göteborg

    Author : Simon B. Larsson; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2014]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; hepatitis B virus; replication; integration; HBV DNA; HBsAg;

    Abstract : Chronic infection with hepatitis B virus (HBV) affects 240 million people worldwide and may cause liver disease including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Initially patients have high levels of HBV DNA in their blood, no liver disease and express the e antigen (HBeAg). READ MORE

  5. 5. Interaction Characteristics of Viral Protease Targets and Inhibitors Perspectives for drug discovery and development of model systems

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Cynthia F Shuman; Uppsala universitet.; [2003]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; viral proteases; biomolecular interactions; kinetics; thermodynamics; biosensors; drug discovery; Biokemi; NATURAL SCIENCES Chemistry Biochemistry; NATURVETENSKAP Kemi Biokemi; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : Viral proteases are important targets for anti-viral drugs. Discovery of protease inhibitors as anti-viral drugs is aided by an understanding of the interactions between viral protease and inhibitors. This thesis addresses the characterization of protease-inhibitor interactions for application to drug discovery and model system development. READ MORE
