  1. 1. Cell-protein-material Interactions on Bioceramics and Model Surfaces

    Author : Åsa Rosengren; Sven Oscarsson; Lucy Di Silvio; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; protein adsorption; blood proteins; biomaterials; ceramics; glass-ceramics; two-dimensional gel electrophoresis; protein orientation; silicon wafers; atomic force microscopy; bone cell adhesion; divalent cation dependency; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : The objective of this thesis was to investigate and characterize the interaction between blood proteins and different surfaces with emphasis on protein adsorption to bioceramics and model surfaces. Special effort was made to monitor the spontaneous and selective adsorption of proteins from human plasma and to examine the orientation, conformation and functional behavior of single proteins after adsorption. 2. 2. The Buried Oxide of Silicon on Insulator Materials

    Author : Per Ericsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; oxide defects; internal oxidation; aluminum oxide; wafer bonding; SOI; silicon on insulator; buried oxide;

    Abstract : The buried oxide of silicon on insulator (SOI) wafers plays an important role in the operation of electronic devices made on such materials. The presence of defects in the buried oxide can seriously degrade the performance of a circuit. READ MORE

  3. 3. Antimicrobial potential of strontium against bacteria associated with peri-implantitis

    Author : Hatem Alshammari; Andreas Stavropoulos; Jessica Neilands; Timo Närhi; Malmö universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Dental implants are nowadays a standard treatment to replace missing teeth and restore function and aesthetics. However, biological complications associated with implants, e.g., peri-implant infections, are common and jeopardize the success of treatment. READ MORE

  4. 4. Growth and Characterization of AlN : From Nano Structures to Bulk Material

    Author : Gholamreza Yazdi; Rositza Yakimova; Mikael Syväjärvi; Zlatko Sitar; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : Aluminum nitride (AlN) exhibits a large direct band gap, 6.2 eV, and is thus suitable forsolid state white-light-emitting devices. It is capable in spintronics because of its high Curietemperature if doped with transition metals. READ MORE

  5. 5. Characterization of dielectric layers for passivation of 4H-SiC devices

    Author : Maciej Wolborski; Anders Hallén; Lothar Frey; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrophysics; Elektrofysik;

    Abstract : Silicon carbide rectifiers and MESFET switches are commercially available since 2001 and 2005 respectively. Moreover, three inch SiC wafers can be purchased nowadays without critical defects for the device performance, four inch wafers are available and the next step of technology is set to be the six inch substrate wafers.
