1. Dynamics and Extreme Value Problems for Moored Floating Platforms
Abstract : This research deals with the dynamic response analyses and extreme value problems of moored floating platforms. It can be divided into three major subjects: first, the analysis of single cables and cable induced mooring damping; second, the dynamic analysis of the moored platforms, with special emphasis on the damping mechanisms and generation of the low-frequency excitation force time series; and third, the extreme wave-frequency responses and the combination of the low-frequency and wave-frequency extreme responses. 2. Multi-Gigabaud Solutions for Millimeter-wave Communication
Abstract : With the growing number of mobile network and internet services subscriptions, faster communication will provide a better experience for users. In the next generation mobile network, the fifth generation (5G), communication data rate will achieve several Gigabits per second with ultra-low latency. READ MORE

3. Compact RF Integration and Packaging Solutions Based on Metasurfaces for Millimeter-Wave Applications
Abstract : The millimeter-wave frequency range has got a lot of attention over the past few years because it contains unused frequency spectrum resources that are suitable for delivering Gbit/s end-user access in areas with high user density. Due to the limited output power that the current RF active components can deliver in millimeter-wave frequencies, antennas with the features of low profile, high gain, high efficiency and low cost are needed to compensate free space path loss and increase the communication distance for the emerging high data rate wireless systems. 4. Performance Aspects in Millimeter-Wave Wireless Networks
Abstract : The ever-growing data rate and comunications demand pose more challenges for the upcoming generations of mobile communications, i.e., fifth generation (5G) and beyond. To deal with these challenges, several solutions can be deployed, e. READ MORE

5. Fatigue Assessment and Extreme Response Prediction of Ship Structures
Abstract : In this thesis, a simplified narrow-band approximation model is proposed to estimate fatigue damage of ship structures, and an efficient method for extreme response predictions is also developed using upcrossing spectrums of ship responses. The proposed fatigue model includes two main parameters, significant stress range hs and zero upcrossing frequency fz. READ MORE
