  1. 1. Gap Waveguide Technology- Electromagnetic Packaging and Transitions

    Author : Astrid Algaba Brazalez; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; rectangular waveguide; packaging; transition; coplanar waveguide; microstrip; millimeter waves; gap waveguide; perfect magnetic conductor;

    Abstract : The scarcity of available frequency bands for new wireless communication systems, as well as the growing need for higher capacity, motivates the current interest in moving upwards in frequency. The millimeter wave frequencyrange is very attractive to allocate potential commercial opportunities such as short range wireless communications that allow high-speed data/video transmission, and automotive radars for both driver assistance and increasedsafety. 2. 2. Gap waveguide for packaging microstrip filters & investigation of transitions from planar technologies to ridge gap waveguide

    Author : Astrid Algaba Brazalez; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; parallel plate mode; coupled line filter; microstrip circuit; packaging; Artificial magnetic conductor AMC ; perfect magnetic conductor PMC ; gap waveguide; transition.; coplanar waveguide CPW ;

    Abstract : Gap waveguide technology has proved to constitute an effective alternative for the design of microwave passive components, due to its advantages with respect to traditional planar technologies and standard waveguides. There is no requirement for conductive contact between the two different metal pieces making up a gap waveguide prototype, since one of these pieces makes use of a textured surface that eliminates any possible leakage of the field through the gap to the surface of the other metal piece above it. 3. 3. Micromachined Gap Waveguide Devices

    Author : Sofia Rahiminejad; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEMS; Gap waveguides; RF; High frequency; GHz; Waveguide;

    Abstract : Gap waveguide technology is a new technology that is well suited for millimeter and submillimeter applications. Compared to conventional rectangular waveguides, this technology does not need any solid conductive walls to confine the wave by utilizing metamaterial surfaces such as "bed of nails" that creates an artificial magnetic conductive surface (AMC). 4. 4. Polymer-Based Micromachining for Scalable and Cost-Effective Fabrication of Gap Waveguide Devices Beyond 100 GHz

    Author : Sadia Farjana; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Dry film photoresist; Terahertz frequency; Injection molding; MEMS; mmWave; Gap waveguide; Antenna; Waveguide; Polymer microfabrication;

    Abstract : The terahertz (THz) frequency bands have gained attention over the past few years due to the growing number of applications in fields like communication, healthcare, imaging, and spectroscopy. Above 100 GHz transmission line losses become dominating, and waveguides are typically used for transmission. READ MORE

  5. 5. Silicon micromachined waveguide components for terahertz systems

    Author : Bernhard Beuerle; Joachim Oberhammer; Umer Shah; Kamal Sarabandi; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; micromachining; waveguide; terahertz; deep reactive ion etching; silicon on insulator; on-wafer characterization; InP; SiGe; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis presents silicon micromachined waveguide components for sub-terahertz and terahertz (THz) systems fabricated by deep reactive ion etching (DRIE). Historically the main driving force for the development of THz systems has been space-based scientific instruments for astrophysics, planetary and Earth science missions. READ MORE
