Finite element simulation of transformation plasticity in martensitic transformation

University dissertation from Linköping : Linköpings universitet

Abstract: This study is concerned with the simulation of transformation plasticity in martensitic transformation. In the first paper the concept of a transformation plasticity strain is introduced from a phenomenological point of view. The basic physical mechanisms behand the phenomenon are discussed, and existing models concerning the evolution of transformation plasticity strain are reviewed. In the second and third paper a micromechanical finite element simulation of a martensitic transformation is presented. The second paper is mainly devoted to a model description, while results are presented and discussed in the third paper. In the fourth paper the thermodynamics of a continuous body containing a moving interface is reviewed, and as an application of the theory, the case of a martensitic transformation is considered.
