1. Human Adipocytes : Proteomic Approaches
Abstract : Type 2 diabetes is characterized by increased levels of glucose in the blood originating from insulin resistance in insulin sensitive tissues and from reduced pancreatic insulin production. Around 400 million people in the world are diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and the correlation with obesity is strong. READ MORE

2. Human papilloma virus : association with vulvovaginitis and genital intra-epithelial neoplasia
Abstract : In many women with gynecological complaints such as itching, burning, discharge, and fissures causing dyspareunia, examination of the vulvovaginal mucosa reveals hyperkeratotic and papillomatous changes. Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technique revealed 64% of such lesions to harbour Human Papilloma Virus (HPV)- DNA, whereas Southern blot (SB) technique showed 50% to be positive for HPV- DNA. 3. Cutaneous Human Papillomaviruses
Abstract : Human papillomaviruses (HPVs) exist as more than 100 distinct types. Variants of HPVs appear to be common findings while HPV subtypes have been considered rare. New information about subtypes has recently been reported by us. READ MORE

4. Functional association networks for disease gene prediction
Abstract : Mapping of the human genome has been instrumental in understanding diseasescaused by changes in single genes. However, disease mechanisms involvingmultiple genes have proven to be much more elusive. Their complexityemerges from interactions of intracellular molecules and makes them immuneto the traditional reductionist approach. READ MORE

5. Human mononuclear phagocytes : Production of reactive oxygen species generated by the NADPH oxidase
Abstract : Human professional phagocytes constitute the first line of defence against invading microorganisms. With a membrane-bound enzyme system, the NADPH oxidase, these cells generate bactericidal metabolites. Activation of NADPH oxidase results in a generation of reactive oxygen species, e.g. READ MORE
