1. Diffusion Dynamics and the Pricing of Innovations
Abstract : This doctoral thesis deals with two closely interconnected phenomena, the adoption and diffusion of innovations. The research aims at developing both the theory of individual adoption decisions and the theory of the diffusion of an innovation in society. READ MORE

2. HLA genetics in multiple sclerosis
Abstract : Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic disease in which both genetic and environmental risk factors contribute to disease susceptibility. MS patients suffer from inflammatory lesions in the central nervous system which results in demyelination of nerve cells, reduced neuronal activity and finally neurodegeneration. READ MORE

3. Childhood malignant disease and consequences for growth hormone secretion, intellectual function and cardiovascular risk
Abstract : In childhood onset growth hormone deficiency (GHD) a reduction in cardiac left ventricular mass (LVMi) and impairment of cardiac systolic function, as well as in glomerular filtration rate (GFR) has been shown. In study I, we showed that a low dose of GH treatment for 10 months resulted in increased LVMi and kidney size. READ MORE

4. Retinal ganglion cell examination with Optical Coherence Tomography reflects physiological and pathological changes in the eye and the brain
Abstract : The retinal ganglion cell is situated in the inner retina and its axons, composing the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL), leave the eye to form the optic nerve. These cells develop embryologically from the forebrain and later during development re-establish connections with different parts of the brain serving different purposes. READ MORE

5. Charge Separation on Localized Surface Plasmon and Hot Carrier Transfer to Semiconductors
Abstract : The relatively recent discovery that plasmonic nanoparticles generate energetic electron-hole pairs known as hot carriers has been the source of interest from many scientific groups. The capability to extract these short-lived hot carriers from metal nanoparticles (NPs) might potentially lead to applications in solar cells, photodetection, and photocatalysis. READ MORE
