2. Wood-inhabiting fungi of alder forests in north-central Scandinavia : 1, Aphyllophorales (Basidiomycetes). Taxonomy, ecology and distribution
Abstract : Wood-inhabiting fungi were collected on different trees in 99 loca-' lities of alder woods, dominated by Alnus incana or occasionally A. glutinosa, in N-C Sweden and C Norway. Most of the localities are situated near the east coast of Sweden where the prevailing land elevation creates conditions suitable for colonization by alder. READ MORE

3. Organohalogen contaminants in Greenland shark (Somniosus microcephalus)
Abstract : The remote sub-Arctic/Arctic environment has due to human activities become a sink for organohalogen contaminants (OHCs). These OHC include traditional contaminants such as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), DDTs and technical mixtures of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), all included in the Stockholm Convention list of persistent organic pollutants (POPs). 5. The molecular mechanisms behind perception and signal transduction of UV-B irradiation in Arabidopsis thaliana
Abstract : Elevation of UV-B radiation (280-315 nm), occurring as a result of depletion of the stratospheric ozone, causes a number of physiological and biochemical changes in plants. Damage to the photosynthetic apparatus (including the bleaching of the pigments which trap the sun's energy), to the processes of cell division and growth regulation, and to the composition and replication of genetic material are just some of these changes.
