6. Islet constitutive nitric oxide synthase and nitric oxide production. Modulatory effects on insulin and glucagon secretion
Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to elucidate the role of nitric oxide (NO) in the transduction signalling of insulin and glucagon release by stimulating or inhibiting islet endogenous NO-production as well as by using NO donors. Insulin release stimulated by L-arginine, the substrate for constitutive NO-synthase (cNOS)-catalyzed NO-production, was increased by the selective NOS-inhibitor NG-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME) and suppressed by the intracellular NO donor hydroxylamine. 7. Using direct manipulation for real-time structural design exploration
Abstract : Before a new structure can be built, it must be designed. This design phase is a very important step in the building process. The total cost of the structure and its structural performance are largely dependent on the structural design process. The impact of decisions on the design process is initially high and declines as the design matures. READ MORE

8. Business Model Epistemology : Support for a Semi-Structured and Inclusive Approach to Business Modeling in Established Firms
Abstract : The world is facing a climate crisis and established firms are set to play a critical role in the societal changes that are needed to defeat it. At the same time, digital technologies are advancing to enable many of the technological solutions that will be required. READ MORE

10. Human spinal cord transplantation : experimental and clinical application
Abstract : The main objectives of this Thesis was to further characterize the in situ human first trimester spinal cord tissue and to evaluate the survival, integration and possible neurological effects of solid human embryonic spinal cord grafts transplanted to cavities in the spinal cord of rat and man. Human-specific neurofilament and Thy-1 positive fibers were observed already at 5 weeks of gestation in the in situ human spinal cord, the earliest stage at which donor tissue was used for intraspinal transplantation.
