  1. 1. SALDI-MS Method Development for Analysis of Pharmaceuticals and Polymer Degradation Products

    Author : Nina Aminlashgari; Minna Hakkarainen; Klas Engvall; Åsa Emmer; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Surface assisted laser desorption ionization-mass spectrometry SALDI-MS ; polyester degradation products; pharmaceutical compounds; nanoparticles; nanocomposites.;

    Abstract : Surface assisted laser desorption ionization-mass spectrometry (SALDI-MS) was evaluated as a new tool for analysis of polymer degradation products. A SALDI method was developed enabling rapid analysis of low molecular mass polyesters and their degradation products. READ MORE

  2. 2. Improved Techniques for Sampling and Sample Introduction in Gas Chromatography

    Author : Jonas Bonn; Johan Roeraade; Åsa Emmer; Mikael Hedenqvist; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Gaskromatografi; Provupparbetning; Provintroduktion; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Sampling and sample introduction are two key steps in quantitative gas chromatography. In this thesis, a development of a previously described sampling technique as well as a novel concept for sample introduction in gas chromatography are presented. The thesis is based on two papers. 3. 3. Study on the structure and properties of xylan extracted from eucalyptus, sugarcane bagasse and sugarcane straw

    Author : Danila Carvalho; Mikael Lindström; Åsa Emmer; Sverker Danielsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Lignocellulosic biomasses are an important source of chemical components such as cellulose, lignin and hemicelluloses, and can be used for a variety of purposes in both the pulp and paper and chemical conversion industries. Xylan, the main hemicellulose found in hardwood and grass plants, plays an important role during the pulping/pretreatment process reactions, including those used in 2nd generation bioethanol production. 4. 4. Mass Spectrometry with Electrospray Ionization from an Adjustable Gap

    Author : Patrik Ek; Åsa Emmer; Johan Roeraade; Per M. Claesson; Ulrika Nilsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electrospray ionization; mass spectrometry; nanoelectrospray; ESI; MS; chip; emitter; gap; liquid bridge; nozzle; peptides; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : In this thesis the fabrication and analytical evaluation of two new electrospray emitters utilized for mass spectrometry analysis is presented. The emitters are based on a new concept, where the spray orifice can be varied in size. The thesis is based on two papers. All present-day nanoelectrospray emitters have fixed dimensions. READ MORE

  5. 5. New methods for sensitive analysis with nanoelectrospray ionization mass spectrometry

    Author : Patrik Ek; Johan Roeraade; Åsa Emmer; Andries P. Bruins; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mass spectrometry; electrospray ionization; nanoelectrospray ionization; adjustable gap; emitter; miniaturization; improved sensitivity; nanoliter picoliter sample volumes; Alzheimer’s disease; amyloid-beta Aβ ; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : In this thesis, new methods that address some current limitations in nanoelectrospray mass spectrometry (nESI-MS) analysis are presented. One of the major objectives is the potential gain in sensitivity that can be obtained when employing the proposed techniques. READ MORE
