16. Experimental brain tumors, dendritic cells and immunotherapy
Abstract : Malignant astrocytomas are the most common primary tumors of the adult central nervous system. Surgical resection of tumor mass in combination with radiotherapy and chemotherapy is only palliative and there is a clear need for new and more effective therapeutic strategies. READ MORE

17. Immunotherapy and COX-2 inhibition against malignant brain tumors
Abstract : Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common primary brain tumor in the central nervous system and the prognosis is very poor despite conventional therapies including surgery, chemo- and radiotherapy. Peripheral vaccination with irradiated tumor cells represent a novel therapy that targets both dividing and non-dividing tumor cells and minimizes the risk of therapy resistance by presenting multiple tumor antigens. 18. Immune maturation in early childhood and the influence of herpesvirus infections
Abstract : The quality of immune responses develops from birth into adulthood and in the context of the host microbial environment. The aim of this work was to study immune maturation during childhood, and how this process can be affected by the common herpesviruses; Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and cytomegalovirus (CMV). READ MORE

19. Observations of nearby Galaxy Clusters with the Fermi Large Area Telescope : Towards the first Gamma Rays from Clusters
Abstract : Galaxy clusters are the most massive bound systems known in the Universe and are believed to have formed through large scale structure formation. They host relativistic cosmic-ray (CR) populations and are gravitationally bound by large amounts of Dark Matter (DM), both providing conditions in which high-energy gamma rays may be produced either via CR interactions with the intracluster medium or through the annihilation or decay of DM particles. 20. Nuclear Structure Studies near 208Pb and γ-ray Imaging Techniques
Abstract : This thesis focuses on a high-resolution γ-ray spectroscopy experiment where the fragmenta- tion of a 208 Pb primary beam was used to populate even-mass nuclei around 208 Pb. It was conducted in 2012 using the Advanced GAmma-ray Tracking Array (AGATA) while it was placed at GSI Darmstadt, Germany. READ MORE
