16. Modeling of coupled thermoplasticity at finite strains
Abstract : In this thesis, models for simulation of inelastic phenomena, such as plastic anisotropy, texture evolution, void growth and phase transformation are presented. Special emphasized is put on the modeling of heat generation due to plastic work. All models are formulated within a thermodynamic framework that allows large deformations. READ MORE

17. High-Performance Finite Element Methods : with Application to Simulation of Diffusion MRI and Vertical Axis Wind Turbines
Abstract : The finite element methods (FEM) have been developed over decades, and together with the growth of computer engineering, they become more and more important in solving large-scale problems in science and industry. The objective of this thesis is to develop high-performance finite element methods (HP-FEM), with two main applications in mind: computational diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and simulation of the turbulent flow past a vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT). 18. Finite Element Methods for Interface Problems
Abstract : This thesis focuses on computationally efficient methods for flow in fractured porous media. Two approaches are presented where the interface is embedded on the underlying finite element mesh. The methods allow for representation of the interface geometry from the underlying discretization and with discontinuities across the interface. READ MORE

20. Isomorphism classes of abelian varieties over finite fields
Abstract : Deligne and Howe described polarized abelian varieties over finite fields in terms of finitely generated free Z-modules satisfying a list of easy to state axioms. In this thesis we address the problem of developing an effective algorithm to compute isomorphism classes of (principally) polarized abelian varieties over a finite field, together with their automorphism groups.
