21. Modelling and Quality Assessment of Atrial Fibrillatory Waves
Abstract : This doctoral thesis revolves around the analysis of electrocardiogram (ECG) signals during atrial fibrillation (AF). Special emphasis is put on the atrial fibrillatory waves, sometimes called the f-waves, which is the ECG component reflecting the electrical activity of the atria. READ MORE

22. Mid- and near-infrared NICE-OHMS : techniques for ultra-sensitive detection of molecules in gas phase
Abstract : Noise-immune cavity-enhanced optical heterodyne molecular spectrometry (NICE-OHMS) is a technique for ultra-sensitive detection of molecular absorption and dispersion. For highest performance, the technique combines cavity enhancement (CE) with frequency modulation (FM); while the former increases the effective interaction length between the light and the analyte by several orders of magnitudes, the latter removes the in-coupling of 1/f noise and makes the signals background free. 23. Models and Algorithms - with applications to vehicle tracking and frequency estimation
Abstract : This thesis considers two different research problems; one concerned with the issue of tracking vehicles and one related to estimating frequencies in harmonic signals. The vehicle-tracking problem is addressed from the perspective of an automotive-safety application, which seeks to monitor the course of surrounding road users with the objective to make decisions regarding if, how and when to intervene. 24. Microwave Frequency Stability and Spin Wave Mode Structure in Nano-Contact Spin Torque Oscillators
Abstract : The nano-contact spin torque oscillator (NC-STO) is an emerging device for highly tunable microwave frequency generation in the range from 0.1 GHz to above 65 GHz with an on-chip footprint on the scale of a few μm. READ MORE

25. The Radio Frequency Single-Electron Transistor: Noise Properties and its Potential for Detecting Electrons on Helium
Abstract : In this thesis the noise in the single electron transistor (SET) has been investigated. The charge sensitivity for the radio frequency single electron transistor(RF-SET) was measured. The demonstrated result is better than the previouslybest reported value both at 40 mK, and at 4.2 K. READ MORE
