  1. 16. Mutational analysis of melanocortin receptors 1 and 5

    Author : Per-Anders Frändberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical biosciences; Melanocortin receptor; melanocortin peptide; MSH; NDP-MSH; mutagenesis human phenotype; Farmaceutisk biovetenskap; Biopharmacy; Biofarmaci; galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Abstract : The melanocortin receptor family includes five subtypes, named MC1R to MC5R. Melanocortin receptors are predominantly coupled to second messenger pathway of cyclic AMP through coupling to G-protein. This study is focused on structure-function relationship of MC1R and MC5R. READ MORE

  2. 17. Strategies to improve cancer radioimmunotargeting

    Author : Anders Ullén; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; : cancer; monoclonal antibody; antiidiotypic antibody; radioimmunotargeting; placental alkaline phosphatase; cytokeratin; BIAcore.;

    Abstract : Radioimmunotherapy (RIT) and radioimmunolocalisation (RIL) are developing and promising technologies to diagnose and treat tumours by use of radiolabelled antibodies targeting tumour specific antigens. The major reason why RIL and RIT not are efficient enough, is the comparatively low accumulation of radiolabelled antibodies in the tumours. READ MORE

  3. 18. Factors influencing transferrin receptor-mediated brain delivery : Evaluating preclinical antibody-based proteins for PET imaging in Alzheimer’s disease

    Author : Rebecca Faresjö Melander; Stina Syvänen; Dag Sehlin; Robert Thorne; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; brain delivery; bispecific antibody; transferrin receptor; Alzheimer s Disease; amyloid-beta; aging; single domain antibody; PET; Biofarmaci; Biopharmaceutics; Neurology; Neurologi; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine; Biofarmaci; Biopharmaceutics;

    Abstract : Antibody-based proteins targeting amyloid-beta (Aβ) could be used as radioligands in positron emission tomography (PET) to study Alzheimer’s disease (AD) pathology in the living brain. The prospective advantages of antibody-based PET are to detect pathology earlier, with higher sensitivity, and to evaluate treatment effects of emerging immunotherapies against Aβ. READ MORE

  4. 19. Proteins of the Inter-α-inhibitor Family : Biosynthesis, Plasma Clearance and Interaction with Extracellular Matrix Components

    Author : Aneta Kaczmarczyk; Erik Fries; Anders Malmström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; bikunin; inter-α-inhibitor; pre-α-inhibitor; intracellular processing; plasma clearance; extracellular matrix; binding; collagen; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Medical Biochemistry; medicinsk biokemi;

    Abstract : Bikunin, a chondroitin sulfate-containing protein of 25 kDa, has protease inhibitory activity and occurs in the plasma in free and complexed form. In inter-α-inhibitor (IαI) and pre-a-inhibitor (PαI) it is covalently linked through its chondroitin sulfate (CS) chain to two or one other polypeptide of about 80 kDa – heavy chains 1 and 2 (H1, H2) and heavy chain 3 (H3) – respectively. 5. 20. Microdosimetry of radiohalogens in thyroid models

    Author : Anders Josefsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Microdosimetry; radiohalogens; radioiodine; astatine-211; thyroid gland; man; rat; mouse;

    Abstract : The radiohalogens 123I, 124I, 125I, 131I, and 211At are routinely used or proposed for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. The different characteristics and application areas of these radioiodine isotopes, together with the possibility to bind them to the same carrier molecule, give many advantages, for example, by enabling relevant biodistribution and dosimetric studies important for dose-planning before radionuclide therapy.
