  1. 1. Molecular dynamics studied by NMR relaxation experiments. Characterization of functional dynamics in the FK506 binding protein FKBP12

    Author : Ulrika Brath; Biofysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nuclear magnetic resonance; NMR; FK506; protein dynamics; chemical exchange; spin relaxation; FKBP12; FKBP; isotope labeling;

    Abstract : The presented thesis work is concerned with the study of molecular dynamics using liquid nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Spin relaxation dispersion experiments in the rotating frame (R1ρ) are employed to provide a detailed, atomic-resolution view of protein dynamics. READ MORE

    Abstract : Knowledge of dynamics in protein is very important in the description of protein function and molecular recognition. The thesis investigates protein dynamics on time-scales from milli- to sub-nanosecond, with focus on the latter, using NMR spin relaxation experiments on two proteins, the 138-residue carbohydrate recognition domain of galectin-3 (Gal3C) and the 56-residue B1 domain of bacterial protein G (PGB1). 3. 3. NMR Studies of Inclusion Compounds

    Author : Sahar Nikkhou Aski; Jozef Kowalewski; Pierre Mutzenhardt; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NMR; 13C spin relaxation; PFGNMR; Kinetics; Correlation time; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical Chemistry; fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis presents the application of some of the NMR methods in studying host-guest complexes, mainly in solution. The general focus of the work is on investigating the reorientational dynamics of some small molecules that are bound inside cavities of larger moieties. READ MORE

  4. 4. Chemistry of Combustion Products Investigation of Combustion Chamber Deposits Formed in a Gasoline Direct Injection Stratified Charge SI Engine

    Author : Farshid Owrang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gasoline fuels; SI engine; gasoline direct injection; stratified charge; combustion chamber deposits; engine oil; oxidation; in situ measurement; thermal desorption; GC MS; fast neutron activation analysis; spin-lattice relaxation constant; NMR;

    Abstract : The aim of this work was to characterize deposits formed in the combustion chambers of a gasoline direct injection stratified charge SI engine. The engine was run with several types of gasoline fuels and a special reference engine oil. READ MORE

  5. 5. Exploring the Molecular Behavior of Carbohydrates by NMR Spectroscopy : Shapes, motions and interactions

    Author : Olof Engström; Göran Widmalm; Anthony S. Serianni; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NMR spectroscopy; NMR relaxation; DNMR; CORCEMA-ST; carbohydrates; caffeine; O-antigen; glycofullerenes; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : Carbohydrates are essential biomolecules that decorate cell membranes and proteins in organisms. They are important both as structural elements and as identification markers. Many biological and pathogenic processes rely on the identification of carbohydrates by proteins, thereby making them attractive as molecular blueprints for drugs. READ MORE
