  2. 2. Utilization of Low Voltage D-T Neutron Generators in Neutron Physics Studies

    Author : Somsorn Singkarat; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; D-T neutron generator; double-differential cross-section DDX ; n-1H scattering; directional neutron detector; time-of-flight method; natural iron; scintillation fibers; neutron energy converter;

    Abstract : In a small nuclear laboratory of a developing country a low voltage D-T neutron generator can be a very useful scientific apparatus. Such machines have been used successfully for more than 40 years in teaching and scientific research. READ MORE

  3. 3. Neutron Spectroscopy : Instrumentation and Methods for Fusion Plasmas

    Author : Henrik Sjöstrand; Göran Ericsson; Johan Frenje; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Neutron spectroscopy; plasma diagnostics; fusion power; fusion; plasma heating; MPRu; JET; triton burn-up; ITER; neutron yield; calibration; Fusion; Fusion;

    Abstract : When the heavy hydrogen isotopes deuterium (D) and tritium (T) undergo nuclear fusion large amounts of energy are released. At the Joint European Torus (JET) research is performed on how to harvest this energy. Two of the most important fusion reactions, d+d→3He+n (En = 2.5 MeV) and d+t→4He+n (En = 14 MeV), produce neutrons. READ MORE

  4. 4. Pre-Flight Development of the PoGOLite Pathfinder

    Author : Mózsi Kiss; Mark Pearce; Gottfried Kanbach; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Astroparticle physics; Astropartikelfysik;

    Abstract : The Polarized Gamma-ray Observer (PoGOLite) is a balloon-borne instrument that will measure gamma-ray polarization in the energy range 25-80 keV from astronomical sources such as pulsars, accretion discs and jets from active galacticnuclei. The two additional parameters provided by such observations, polarizationangle and degree, will allow these objects to be studied in a new way, providing information about their emission mechanisms and geometries. 5. 5. Studies of PoGOLite performance and background rejection capabilities

    Author : Mózsi Kiss; Mark Pearce; Staffan Carius; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : The Polarized Gamma-ray Observer (PoGOLite) is a balloon-borne instrument capable of measuring as low as 10% polarization from a 200 mCrab source in a sixhour °ight. A wide array of sources can be studied, including pulsars, neutron stars, accretion discs and jets from active galactic nuclei. READ MORE
