  1. 1. Olfactory Metacognition : A Metamemory Perspective on Odor Naming

    Author : Fredrik Jönsson; Mats Olsson; Henrik Olsson; Egon P. Köster; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Psychology; odor identification; odor naming; metamemory; confidence; tip of the tongue experience; tip of the nose experience; feeling of knowing; Psykologi; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Abstract : Although many aspects of odor naming have received attention during the years, the participants' own cognitions (metamemory) about their naming attempts have not. (i) We showed that feeling of knowing (FOK) judgments accompanying odor naming failures are predictive of later recognition (Study I) or retrieval (Study III) of the missing name, but to a lesser degree than equivalent judgments about names of persons. 2. 2. Evaluation of amyloid precursor protein and ß-amyloid as biomarkers for Alzheimer s disease

    Author : Annika Olsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Alzheimer s disease; amyloid precursor protein; ß-amyloid; biomarker; cerebrospinal fluid; enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay; plasma;

    Abstract : Alzheimer s disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterised by accumulations of neurofibrillary tangles and amyloid plaques. The major components of the amyloid deposits are the ß-amyloid (Aß) peptides derived from the amyloid precursor protein (APP). READ MORE

  3. 3. Active Vibration Control of Multibody Systems : Application to Automotive Design

    Author : Claes Olsson; Alexander Medvedev; Stephen Elliott; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Active Vibration Control; Vibration Isolation; Feedback Control; Adaptive Filtering; Saturation; Limit Cycles; Multi Body Systems; Modelling; Simulation; Non-linearity; Gain Scheduling; Structure Flexibility; Automatic control; Reglerteknik;

    Abstract : Active vibration control to reduce vibrations and structure borne noise is considered using a powerful multi-disciplinary virtual design environment which enables control system design to be considered as an integral part of the overall vehicle design. The main application studied is active automotive engine vibration isolation where, first, the potential of large frequency band multi-input multi-output H2 feedback control is considered. READ MORE

  4. 4. Thoracic Aortic Surgery : Epidemiology, Outcomes, and Prevention of Cerebral Complications

    Author : Christian Olsson; Stefan Thelin; Jan van der Linden; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Surgery; Aorta; Thoracic; Aortic aneurysms; Aortic disease; Cardiovascular surgical procedures; Epidemiology; Registries; Treatment outcome; Survival analysis; Cerebral infarction; Near-infrared spectroscopy; Quality of life; Perfusion; Kirurgi;

    Abstract : The mortality of thoracic aortic diseases (mainly aneurysms and dissections) is high, even with surgical treatment. Epidemiology and long-term outcomes are incompletely investigated. Stroke is a major complication contributing to mortality, morbidity, and possibly to reduced quality of life. READ MORE

  5. 5. Equal Peace : United Nations Peace Operations and the Power-Relations between men and women in Timor-Leste
