  1. 1. Serine Hydrolase Selectivity : Kinetics and applications in organic and analytical chemistry

    Author : Anders Hamberg; Karl Hult; Dick Janssen; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Candida antarctica lipase B; monoacylation of diols; kinetic resolution; thermodynamics in enzyme catalysis; enzyme engineering; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Abstract : The substrate selectivities for different serine hydrolases were utilized in various applications, presented in papers I-VI. The articles are discussed in the thesis in view of the kinetics of the enzyme catalysis involved. READ MORE

  2. 2. Lipase and ω-Transaminase : Biocatalytic Investigations

    Author : Maria Svedendahl; Per Berglund; Stefan Stefan Lutz; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Candida antarctica lipase B; enzyme catalysis; enzyme catalytic promiscuity; molecular modeling; ω-transaminase; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Abstract : In a lipase investigation, Candida antarctica lipase B (CALB) are explored for enzyme catalytic promiscuity. Enzyme catalytic promiscuity is shown by enzymes catalyzing alternative catalytic transformations proceeding via different transition state structures than normal. READ MORE

  3. 3. Lipase-Catalyzed Syntheses of Telechelic Polyesters

    Author : Magnus Eriksson; Karl Hult; Mats Martinelle; Sergio Riva; KTH; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Candida antarctica lipase B; lipase-catalysis; polymerization; telechelic; functional polyesters; ring-opening polymerization; polycondensation.; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Abstract : Telechelic polyesters have successfully been synthesized with lipase-catalyzed polymerization. The produced telechelics had a high degree of difunctionalization, high purity (requiring little or no workup) and controlled degree of polymerization. The syntheses were performed in one-pot one-step reaction systems. READ MORE

  4. 4. Multifunctional nanomaterials for diagnostic and therapeutic applications

    Author : Andrea Fornara; Mamoun Muhammed; Patrick Saulnier; KTH; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Abstract : In the past few years, the use of nanostructured materials in medical applications hasdramatically increased, both in the research phase and for clinical purposes, due to thepeculiar properties and the ability of such materials to interact at a similar scale withbiological entities. In this thesis, we developed tailored magnetic multifunctionalnanoparticles for diagnostic and therapeutic applications, such as detection ofbiomolecules, simultaneous enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), fluorescentvisualization and controlled drug release. 5. 5. Lipase Specificity and Selectivity : Engineering, Kinetics and Applied Catalysis

    Author : Mohamad Takwa; Karl Hult; Bernhard Hauer; KTH; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Abstract : The specificity and selectivity of the enzyme Candida antarctica lipase B (CALB) were studiedfor several substrates and applications.With help of molecular modeling, the active site of CALB was redesigned for the ring openingpolymerization of D,D‐lactide. READ MORE
