1. Enabling technologies for scalable graphene electronics
Abstract : This thesis addresses the challenges in scaling up graphene-based technologies, with a focus on the epitaxial growth of graphene (epigraphene) over SiC substrates and the establishment of reliable low-contact resistance electrical contacts. The scalable graphene growth and contact fabrication have enabled the development of three epigraphene-based devices, including large-scale Quantum Hall Arrays, highly sensitive Hall effect magnetometers with minimal noise, and quantum-limited ultraviolet (UV) detectors. 2. Graphene FET terahertz detectors on flexible substrates
Abstract : Terahertz (THz) science and technology have developed rapidly over the past decades, extending the THz application areas from spectroscopy and earth and space sciences to communications, biomedicine and security sensing. Many of these emerging applications require shape-conforming, light-weight and low-cost detectors rather than existing solid-state detection technology. READ MORE

3. Heterogeneous Integration Technologies Based on Wafer Bonding and Wire Bonding for Micro and Nanosystems
Abstract : Heterogeneous integration realizes assembly and packaging of separately manufactured micro-components and novel functional nanomaterials onto the same substrate. It has been a key technology for advancing the discrete micro- and nano-electromechanical systems (MEMS/NEMS) devices and micro-electronic components towards cost-effective and space-efficient multi-functional units. 4. Organic functionalization of graphene for applications in energy storage devices and optoelectronics
Abstract : The emergence of one-atom layer thick materials, exemplified by graphene following its first exfoliation by Geim and Novoselov, has sparked significant research interest. Owing to their unique electronic structure, 2D materials are regarded as promising candidates for diverse applications, including field-effect transistors (FETs), solar energy harvesting, biological systems, water purification, and energy storage devices. 5. Transmission Electron Microscopy of 2D Materials : Structure and Surface Properties
Abstract : During recent years, new types of materials have been discovered with unique properties. One family of such materials are two-dimensional materials, which include graphene and MXene. These materials are stronger, more flexible, and have higher conductivity than other materials. As such they are highly interesting for new applications, e. READ MORE
