  1. 1. Gill EROD Activity in Fish : A Biomarker for Waterborne Ah-receptor Agonists

    Author : Alexandra Abrahamson; Ingvar Brandt; Björn Brunström; Janneche Utne Skaare; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Biology; biomarker; fish; gill; CYP1A; EROD; environmental monitoring; induction; inhibition; PAH; PCB; produced water; Biologi;

    Abstract : Induction of the cytochrome P450(CYP)1A protein and the connected increase in 7-ethoxyresorufin O-deethylase (EROD) activity are common biomarkers in fish. Enhanced activity of this protein signals exposure to Ah-receptor agonists such as chlorinated dioxins, co-planar polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and certain polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). 2. 2. Computational Modelling of Structures and Ligands of CYP2C9

    Author : Lovisa Afzelius; Collen Masimirembwa; Ismael Zamora; Anders Karlén; Marcel de Groot; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical chemistry; CYP2C9; 3D QSAR; GRID; CYP450; pharmacophore modelling; homology modelling; metabolism; competitive inhibitors; CPCA; molecular dynamics simulations; Farmaceutisk kemi; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Medicinal Chemistry; läkemedelskemi;

    Abstract : CYP2C9 is one of our major drug metabolising enzymes and belongs to the cytochrome P450 (CYP) super family. The aim of this thesis was to gain an understanding of the quantitative structure–activity relationships (QSAR) of CYP2C9 substrates and inhibitors. READ MORE

  3. 3. The role of sediments in the biogeochemical cycles of nutrients in the Gulf of Riga

    Author : Juris Aigars; Matti Perttilä; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biogeochemistry; biogeokemi;

    Abstract : The sediment biogeochemistry of C, N, P and biologic silica (BSi) plays an important role in cycling of these elements in aquatic ecosystems. In shallow coastal and estuarine systems, water-sediment nutrient dynamics can influence biological processes (e.g., primary production) in overlying waters. READ MORE

  4. 4. Medical knowledge extraction. Applications of data analysis methods

    Author : Ankica Babic; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : In this thesis we explore and discuss some important methods for knowledge extraction from meclical data. This is done in relation to, and for the purpose of design and development of decision support systems, which could be population specific. READ MORE

  5. 5. Cost-optimality approach for prioritisation of buildings envelope energy renovation : A techno-economic perspective

    Author : Farshid Bonakdar; Angela Sasic Kalagasidis; Keith Jones; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Building renovation; Energy efficiency; Cost-optimality; costeffectiveness; Building envelope; Residential buildings; Building energy simulation; Brute-force algorithm; Sustainable Built Environment; Hållbar byggd miljö;

    Abstract : The existing residential buildings in the European countries are rather old and often fail to meet the current energy performance criteria. In Sweden, about 45% of the existing residential buildings have been constructed before 1960. READ MORE
