  1. 1. Process Development for Electron Beam Melting of 316LN Stainless Steel

    Author : Stefan Roos; Lars-Erik Rännar; Andrei Koptioug; Jonas Danvind; Lars Pejryd; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; additive manufacturing; beam deflection rate; electron beam melting; energy input; material properties; microstructure; powder bed fusion; process parameters; 316LN stainless steel;

    Abstract : Additive manufacturing (AM) is a technology that inverts the procedure of traditional machining. Instead of starting with a billet of material and removing unwanted parts, the AM manufacturing process starts with an empty workspace and proceeds to fill this workspace with material where it is desired, often in a layer-by-layer fashion. 2. 2. Electron beam powder bed fusion processing of stainless steels

    Author : Stefan Roos; Lars-Erik Rännar; Andrei Koptioug; Carlos Alberto Botero Vega; Iain Todd; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Additive manufacturing; Electron beam powder bed fusion; PBF-EB; Stainless steel; Mechanical properties; Micro-structure; Nanoindentation;

    Abstract : Additive manufacturing (AM) is still a relatively new technology. In contrast to traditional machining where material is removed from a blank, AM is used to fuse a feedstock material into complex shapes, layer by layer, starting from an empty workspace. READ MORE

  3. 3. Studies of Heavy Ion Induced Desorption in the Energy Range 5-100 MeV/u

    Author : Emma Hedlund; Lars Westerberg; Oleg Malyshev; Manfred Leisch; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Physics; Heavy Ion Induced Desorption; Ultra High Vacuum; NEG Coating; Heavy Ion Accelerators; Test Particle Monte-Carlo; Gas Flow; Throughput; Laser Refractometry; Metrology; Fysik;

    Abstract : During operation of heavy ion accelerators a significant pressure rise has been observed when the intensity of the high energy beam was increased. The cause for this pressure rise is ion induced desorption, which is the result when beam ions collide with residual gas molecules in the accelerator, whereby they undergo charge exchange. READ MORE

  4. 4. Experimental and analytical study of thermal mixing at reactor conditions

    Author : Mattia Bergagio; Henryk Anglart; Horst-Michael Prasser; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High-cycle thermal fatigue; Hilbert-Huang transform; large eddy; WALE; rainflow; inverse heat conduction; adjoint conjugate gradient; Energy Technology; Energiteknik; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : High-cycle thermal fatigue due to turbulent mixing of streams at distinct temperatures is an interdisciplinary issue affecting safety and life extension of existing reactors together with the design of new reactors. It is challenging to model damage and thermal loads arising from the above mixing. READ MORE
