  1. 1. Ultrasound prediction of large fetuses. Epidemiological and clinical investigations

    Author : Gun Lindell; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Two-dimensional ultrasound; three-dimensional ultrasound; fetus; intrauterine growth; maternal characteristic; large-for-gestational age; antenatal calculation; Bayesian theorem; fetal weight; estimation; post-term fetus; fetal macrosomia;

    Abstract : The proportions of newborns with a birth weight (BW) >4,000 g and of macrosomic newborns (BW >4,500 g) have increased during the last two decades, parallel with an increasing maternal pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) and age at the time for pregnancy. Delivery of a large fetus, especially >4,500 g might cause perinatal complications for both the mother and her child. READ MORE

  2. 2. Contrast enhanced transrectal ultrasound of the prostate : An experimental and clinical study

    Author : Else Krüger Hagen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Transrectal ultrasound; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; radiologi; Radiology;

    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis was to evaluate the diagnostic potential of a new ultrasound contrast agent,SonazoidTM, intended for use in patients with suspicion of prostate cancer.The sonographic appearance of normal prostatic vascularity in dogs was evaluated before and after injection of Sonazoid,using different Doppler flow detection modes. 3. 3. Statistical Segmentation and Registration of Medical Ultrasound Data

    Author : Mattias Hansson; Matematik LTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Registration; Segmentation; Feature descriptor; Statistical image and signal processing; Medical ultrasound; Variational methods; Mixture model; Bayesian; Markov Chain Monte Carlo; Similarity measur;

    Abstract : The interpretation of ultrasonic imagery is typically not straightforward and of quite subjective nature and therefore strongly dependent on the expertise of its users. Thus the development of algorithms which aid in the interpretation of ultrasonic data is a highly relevant topic. READ MORE

  4. 4. Three - dimensional ultrasound studies of the cervix in pregnancy

    Author : Linas Rovas; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; andrology; gynaecology; Obstetrics; Prostaglandin .; Labor induction .; Spontaneous delivery .; Pregnancy .; Cervix uteri .; Blood flow indices .; Doppler ultrasound .; Three-dimensional imaging .; sexuality; reproduction; Obstetrik; sexualitet; reproduktion; gynekologi; andrologi;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to evaluate cervical physiological changes by three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound during pregnancy and to investigate the ability of 3D power Doppler to predict time to spontaneous and induced delivery in prolonged pregnancy. The thesis is based on five studies: reproducibility of cervical measurements by 3D power Doppler ultrasound (study I), reference data representative normal findings of the cervix assessed by 3D ultrasound during pregnancy (studies II, III) and the ability of 3D power Doppler to predict time to spontaneous and induced delivery in prolonged pregnancy. 5. 5. Juxtarenal aortic aneurysm - Endovascular treatment and imaging techniques

    Author : Thorarinn Kristmundsson; Kirurgi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Abdominal aortic aneurysm; juxtarenal aneurysm; endovascular repair; fenestrated endovascular repair; imaging; computed tomography; ultrasound.;

    Abstract : Treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms has shifted rapidly from open surgery to minimally invasive endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR). However, anatomical limitations such as short or absent proximal sealing neck and poor access vessels exclude up to 50% of patients. READ MORE
