1. Lip-motion and speech biometrics in person recognition
Abstract : Biometric identification techniques are frequently used to improve security, e.g. in financial transactions, computer networks and secure critical locations. The purpose of biometric authentication systems is to verify an individual by her biological characteristics including those generating characterisitic behaviour. READ MORE

2. 3D Gesture Recognition and Tracking for Next Generation of Smart Devices : Theories, Concepts, and Implementations
Abstract : The rapid development of mobile devices during the recent decade has been greatly driven by interaction and visualization technologies. Although touchscreens have signicantly enhanced the interaction technology, it is predictable that with the future mobile devices, e.g. READ MORE

3. Video based analysis and visualization of human action
Abstract : Analyzing human motion is important in a number of ways. An athlete constantly needs to evaluate minute details about his or her motion pattern. In physical rehabilitation, the doctor needs to evaluate how well a patient is rehabilitating from injuries. Some systems are being developed in order to identify people only based on their gait. 4. Model-based Methods in Motion Capture
Abstract : This thesis concerns the use of kinematic models and shape models to solve the problem of estimating the motion of articulated objects from image data. The data considered in the first part of the thesis are trajectories of 3D feature points (markers). In the second part, image sequences are considered. READ MORE

5. Biomechanical assessment of head and neck movements in neck pain using 3D movement analysis
Abstract : Three-dimensional movement analysis was used to evaluate head and neck movement in patients with neck pain and matched controls. The aims were to further develop biomechanical models of head and neck kinematics, to investigate differences between subjects with non-specific neck pain and whiplash associated disorders (WAD), and to evaluate the potential of objective movement analysis as a decision support during diagnosis and follow-up of patients with neck pain.
