  1. 1. Combining X-ray and 3D scanning of logs

    Author : Johan Skog; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Träteknik; Wood Technology;

    Abstract : In Scandinavia, sawlogs are typically sorted upon arrival at the sawmill. Presorting of sawlogs according to dimension, e.g., using an optical three-dimensional (3D) scanner, is used to make the sawing process more efficient. READ MORE

  2. 2. Cultivating the Erratic: Architectural representation and materialisation after the digital turn

    Author : Daniel Norell; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Agency; Physics simulation; Materialisation; Design driven research; 3d-scanning; Representation;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates representation and materialisation in contemporary architectural design. Due to cultural and technological shifts, the act of design is no longer squarely located in the abstract realms of drawings or digital geometries. READ MORE

  3. 3. Characterization of sawlogs using industrial X-ray and 3D scanning

    Author : Johan Skog; Olav Höjbö; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Träteknik; Wood Technology;

    Abstract : In the Nordic countries, sawlogs are typically sorted upon arrival at the sawmill based on species and dimension. By processing batches of logs with similar size, the sawing process becomes more efficient; the need to change sawing pattern between individual logs is reduced, and the handling of sawn goods is simplified, since the number of different dimensions produced simultaneously decreases. 4. 4. Digital model-driven retail supply chain management

    Author : Emmelie Gustafsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; 3D scanning; Matching technology; Digital product fitting; Retail supply chains; Digital customer models; Mass customization; Design science; Product variety; Digitalization; Digital product models;

    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis is to increase the understanding of how matching of digital models of products and customers can be used to shift the performance frontier in retail supply chains. This thesis puts forward the matching of digital models as an operational practice used by retail supply chains. READ MORE
