  1. 1. Multi-Band Multi-Standard CMOS Receiver Front-Ends for 4G Mobile Applications

    Author : Saul Alejandro Rodriguez Duenas; Ana Rusu; Mohammed Ismail El-Naggar; Erik Bruun; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CMOS; LNA; mixer; 4G; Electronics; Elektronik;

    Abstract : The development of the transistor and its continuous down-scaling has allowed during the last decades the appearance of cheap wireless communication systems targeting consumer products. The complexity of these systems has increased dramatically during the last years, mainly fueled by both the Moore law and improvements in communication theory. READ MORE

  2. 2. Hardware Implementation of Baseband Processing for Massive MIMO

    Author : Hemanth Prabhu; Integrerade elektroniksystem; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Massive MIMO; Hardware architectures; ASIC design; precoding detection;

    Abstract : In the near future, the number of connected mobile devices and data-rates are expected to dramatically increase. Demands exceed the capability of the currently deployed (4G) wireless communication systems. READ MORE

  3. 3. Short-Packet Communications: Fundamental Performance and Key Enablers

    Author : Johan Östman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rayleigh fading; Block-fading channels; Rician fading; variable-length stop-feedback; short-packet channel codes.; ultra-reliable low-latency;

    Abstract : The paradigm shift from 4G to 5G communications, predicted to enable new use cases such as ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC), will enforce a radical change in the design of communication systems. Unlike in 4G systems, where the main objective is to have a large transmission rate, in URLLC, as implied by its name, the objective is to enable transmissions with low latency and, simultaneously, very high reliability. 4. 4. Ultra-Reliable Short-Packet Communications: Fundamental Limits and Enabling Technologies

    Author : Johan Östman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ultra-reliable low-latency; variablelength stop-feedback; imperfect CSI; channel estimation; HARQ.; joint detection and decoding; short packets; Block-fading channels; multiuser massive MIMO;

    Abstract : The paradigm shift from 4G to 5G communications, anticipated to enable ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC), will enforce a radical change in the design of wireless communication systems. Unlike in 4G systems, where the main objective is to provide a large transmission rate, in URLLC, as implied by its name, the objective is to enable transmissions with low latency and, simultaneously, very high reliability. 5. 5. Characterization of Small Antennas & Wireless Devices for MIMO Systems in Rich Isotropic Multipath & Random Line-of-Sight

    Author : Ahmed Hussain; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MIMO; Rayleigh; reverberation chamber; random LOS; RIMP; LTE; OTA;

    Abstract : The current thesis is about over-the-air (OTA) performance characterization of wireless terminals in rich isotropic multipath (RIMP) environment as well as in pure line-of-sight (LOS) environment while not ignoring the random positions and orientations of the mobile terminals due to randomness of the user. The latest mobile wireless terminals such as iPhone and iPad can be used in any random position and orientation thereby making the received LOS-component toappear as a random voltage at the antenna ports.
