1. Multi-Band Multi-Standard CMOS Receiver Front-Ends for 4G Mobile Applications
Abstract : The development of the transistor and its continuous down-scaling has allowed during the last decades the appearance of cheap wireless communication systems targeting consumer products. The complexity of these systems has increased dramatically during the last years, mainly fueled by both the Moore law and improvements in communication theory. READ MORE

2. A Cross-Layer Perspective on Transport Protocol Performance in Wireless Networks
Abstract : Communication by wireless technologies has seen a tremendous growth in the last decades. Mobile phone technology and wireless broadband solutions are rapidly replacing the last-hop wireline connectivity for telephones and Internet access. READ MORE

3. Achieving Low Latency and High Throughput over Cellular Internet Connections
Abstract : The continuous increase in the number and type of Internet services and their requirements for improved QoS has motivated the steady evolution of cellular networks towards the current fifth generation (5G) systems. However, updating the network to 5G is insufficient to satisfy application requirements since performance limitations can also exist in the transport used by the applications. READ MORE

4. Managing Radio and Energy Resources in LTE-Based Military Training Networks
Abstract : The number of wireless connected devices are growing exponentially and the importance of this research area is growing as well to meet the known and looming challenges and expectations. The 5:th Generation telecommunications standard is partly embodied by the Machine-to-Machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies and standards to handle a big part of these devices and connections. 5. Mobile Antenna Systems for 4G and 5G Applications with User Body Interaction
Abstract : In the thesis, the user body effect on antennas in a mobile terminal is discussed. In order to overcome the degradation of Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) performance due to the user body effect, a quad-elements MIMO antenna array which can mitigate the body effect through an adaptive antenna switching method is introduced for 4G mobile terminals.
