  1. 1. Mixers and Multifunctional MMICs for Millimeter-Wave Applications

    Author : Sten Gunnarsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; G-band; double-balanced Gilbert mixer; sub-harmonically pumped resistive mixer; pHEMT; receiver; image reject mixer; dual-quadrature mixer; balanced resistive mixer; resistive mixer; 220 GHz; high data rate; drain mixer; 53 GHz; single-chip; V-band.; radiometer; mixer; broadband wireless communication; multifunctional; MMIC; GaAs; mHEMT; transmitter; 60 GHz;

    Abstract : This thesis treats the design and characterization of different mixer and multifunctional monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs) in GaAs pHEMT and mHEMT technologies. The MMICs operate at the V (50 – 75 GHz) and G (140 – 220 GHz) bands and several of them demonstrate state-of-the-art performance, level of integration, novel topologies, and/or novel functionality. 2. 2. High-efficiency Power Amplification Techniques for Wireless Transmitters

    Author : Hossein Mashad Nemati; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; load modulation; LDMOS; supply modulation; GaN HEMT; Power amplifier; wireless communications.; GaAs mHEMT; efficiency;

    Abstract : The low efficiency of existing power amplifiers (PAs) is causing excessive energy consumption in wireless systems. Improving the PA efficiency is therefore of great environmental and economical importance. READ MORE

  3. 3. Design of High-Speed Time-Interleaved Delta-Sigma D/A Converters

    Author : Ameya Bhide; Atila Alvandpour; de la Rosa José M.; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Digital-to-analog (D/A) converters (or DACs) are one the fundamental building blocks of wireless transmitters. In order to support the increasing demand for highdata-ate communication, a large bandwidth is required from the DAC. READ MORE

  4. 4. Wide Bandgap Semiconductor (SiC & GaN) Power Amplifiers in Different Classes

    Author : Sher Azam; Qamar Wahab; Jörgen Olsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wide bandgap; SiC; MESFET; GaN; HEMT; Power Amplifiers; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : SiC MESFETs and GaN HEMTs have an enormous potential in high-power amplifiers at microwave frequencies due to their wide bandgap features of high electric breakdown field strength, high electron saturation velocity and high operating temperature. The high power density combined with the comparably high impedance attainable by these devices also offers new possibilities for wideband power microwave systems. READ MORE

  5. 5. Efficient Integrated Circuits for Wideband Wireless Transceivers

    Author : Quoc-Tai Duong; Atila Alvandpour; Henrik Sjöland; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : The proliferation of portable communication devices combined with the relentless demand for higher data rates has spurred the development of wireless communication standards which can support wide signal bandwidths. Benefits of the complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) process such as high device speeds and low manufacturing cost have rendered it the technology of choice for implementing wideband wireless transceiver integrated circuits (ICs).
