1. TP53 mutations in myelodysplastic syndromes with deletion of 5q
Abstract : The myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) constitute a heterogeneous group of malignant bone marrow disorders characterized by peripheral cytopenia(s) and increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia (AML). International Prognostic Scoring system (IPSS) Low- or Intermediate (INT)-1 risk MDS with a deletion of 5q (del5q) were considered to have an indolent course and a low risk for progression to AML as compared to other MDS subtypes. 2. Identification and Characterization of Stem Cells in Preleukemia and Leukemia
Abstract : Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are responsible for the daily and life long production of large numbers of mature blood cells through highly regulated self-renewal and multilineage capabilities. Leukemias on the other hand, are characterized by a clonal, dysregulated, lineage skewed proliferation and impaired differentiation as the result of multiple accumulated genetic events. READ MORE

3. The mutational landscape and microenvironment in myelodysplastic syndromes with deletion of chromosome 5q
Abstract : Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) with deletion of chromosome 5q (del(5q) are malignant bone marrow disorders characterized by macrocytic anemia, chronic transfusion dependency and an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia. A high proportion of patients with lower-risk del(5q) myelodysplastic syndromes will respond to lenalidomide treatment, but more than 40% of patients have progressed to acute leukemia five years after starting treatment. 4. Studies of anemia in the myelodysplastic syndromes
Abstract : Background: The myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) constitute a heterogeneous group of malignant bone marrow disorders, characterized by chronic anemia and increased risk of transformation to acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The first line therapy of anemia in MDS is erythropoietin (EPO) with or without granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF). READ MORE

5. Genetic studies of stroke in Northern Sweden
Abstract : Stroke is a common disorder of later life with a complex etiology, including both environmental and genetic risk factors. The inherited predisposition is challenging to study due to the complexity of the stroke phenotype. READ MORE
