  1. 1. Protein-Based Adhesives for Particleboards

    Author : Sara Khosravi; Mats Johansson; A. A Broekhuis; KTH; []

    Abstract : The main objective of this study was to elucidate the possibilities to use wheat gluten (WG) as a binder for particleboards, as well as soy protein isolate (SPI). The focus was on the effect of the adhesive formulation and the processing conditions, while the press parameters were kept constant. READ MORE

  2. 2. Biomimetic Iron Complexes involved in Oxygenation and Chlorination : A Theoretical Study

    Author : Holger Noack; Margareta R. A. Blomberg; Per E. M. Siegbahn; Martin Kaupp; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biomimetic; iron; density functional theory; intradiol; chlorination; adpic acid; diamond core; reactivity; Bio-inorganic chemistry; Bio-oorganisk kemi; Theoretical chemistry; Teoretisk kemi; kemisk fysik; Chemical Physics;

    Abstract : Biomimetic chemistry is directed towards the simulation of enzymatic reactivity with synthetic analogues. In this thesis a quantum chemical method has been employed to study the mechanism of highly reactive iron-oxo complexes involved in oxygenation and chlorination of organic substrates. READ MORE

  3. 3. Novel strategies for C-C/X bond formation

    Author : Prasad Anaspure; Ian A. Nicholls; Suppan Kathiravan; Jesper G. Wiklander; Subramanian Suriyanarayanan; Yannick Landais; Linnéuniversitetet; []

  4. 4. Trapping Tyrosine Z : Exploring the Relay between Photochemistry and Water Oxidation in Photosystem II

    Author : Johannes Sjöholm; Stenbjörn Styring; Fikret Mamedov; A. William Rutherford; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Photosystem II; Tyrosine Z; EPR; proton-coupled electron transfer; hydrogen bond; pH;

    Abstract : Photosystem II is unique! It remains the only enzyme that can oxidize water using light as energy input. Water oxidation in photosystem II is catalyzed by the CaMn4 cluster. The electrons extracted from the CaMn4 cluster are transferred to P680+ via the tyrosine residue D1-Tyr161 (YZ). READ MORE

  5. 5. Studies of human dendritic cells in the skin after antigen exposure

    Author : Emily Bond; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Dendritic cells (DCs) act at the interface of innate and adaptive immunity. They are capable of inducing strong effector immune responses to invading pathogens, but also exert important functions in the maintenance of tolerance. READ MORE
