1. Designing out waste - Exploring barriers for material recirculation
Abstract : This doctoral thesis has investigated what hinders material recirculation in society, to later suggest possible ways to support material recirculation in the future. Since material recirculation is proposed as a way to use waste materials for new production, it was deemed relevant to investigate two separate case studies that enabled recirculation from production systems and waste management. 2. Computational methods for analysis of spatial transcriptomics data : An exploration of the spatial gene expression landscape
Abstract : Transcriptomics techniques, whether in the form of bulk, single cell/nuclei, or spatial methods have fueled a substantial expansion of our knowledge about the biological systems within and around us. In addition, the rate of innovation has accelerated over the last decade, resulting in a multitude of technological advances and new methods for generation of transcriptomics data. READ MORE

3. Environmental Actions and Response - Reinforced Concrete Structures exposed in Road and Marine Environments
Abstract : The expenses for repair, maintenance and remediation of existing concrete structures have significantly increased. A large proportion of these expenses are due to problems related to a lacking durability of the structure. READ MORE

4. Functional outcome and experiences concerning daily life after malunion of the distal radius and corrective osteotomy
Abstract : BACKGROUND. Distal radius fractures are common injuries that occur at all ages. The commonest complication is that the fracture heals in malunion. This can negatively affect function and the ability to perform activities. READ MORE

5. TALplanner and other extensions to Temporal Action Logic
Abstract : Though the exact definition of the boundary between intelligent and non-intelligent artifacts has been a subject of much debate, one aspect of intelligence that many would deem essential is deliberation: Rather than reacting "instinctively" to its environment, an intelligent system should also be capable of reasoning about it, reasoning about the effects of actions performed by itself and others, and creating and executing plans, that is, determining which actions to perform in order to achieve certain goals. True deliberation is a complex topic, requiring support from several different sub-fields of artificial intelligence. READ MORE
