  2. 2. Towards a broader use of phototesting : in research, clinical practice and skin cancer prevention

    Author : Magnus Falk; Chris Anderson; Karin Wårdell; Olle Lärkö; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Phototesting; divergent beam; skin cancer prevention; self-reading; minimal erythema dose; sun protection behaviour; Dermatology and venerology; Dermatologi och venerologi;

    Abstract : In western societies, skin cancer incidence has increased dramatically over recent decades, due predominantly to increased sun exposure habits. Ultraviolet (UV) light exposure and individual light sensitivity of the skin constitute two important factors affecting the risk for skin cancer development. READ MORE

  3. 3. Students' depictions of quantum mechanics : a contemporary review and some implications for research and teaching

    Author : Johan Falk; Cedric Linder; Gunnar Ingelman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Other physics; Övrig fysik; Physics with specialization in Physics Education; Fysik med inriktning mot fysikens didaktik;

    Abstract : This thesis presents a comprehensive review of research into students’ depictions of quantum mechanics. A taxonomy to describe and compare quantum mechanics education research is presented, and this taxonomy is used to highlight the foci of prior research. A brief history of quantum mechanics education research is also presented. READ MORE

  4. 4. Single-Photon Events in the DELPHI Experiment

    Author : Elisabeth Falk; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; kvantfältteori; Elementarpartikelfysik; quantum field theory; DELPHI; STIC; LEP; single-photon events; PS; off-energy electrons; silicon-strip detector; coherent noise; emittance; Elementary particle physics; fast wire scanner; High energy interactions; cosmic rays; Kosmisk strålning; högenergi; Fysicumarkivet A:1998:Falk Harris;

    Abstract : A series of studies pertaining to the STIC calorimeter at the DELPHI experiment at LEP is presented, and a new generation of fast wire scanners for emittance measurements at PS is described. The STIC studies are centered around a single-photon analysis, in which the reaction e+ e- -> gamma + invisible particles was studied at center-of-mass energies of 161, 172 and 183 GeV. READ MORE

    Abstract : Scientific advances, along with better conditions for attaining healthy lifestyles, have had the result that more people live longer. On the flipside of this success, people are also living longer with diseases and are thus in need of more health care than before. This takes up available resources and the health care system must adapt accordingly. READ MORE
