  1. 1. Architecture and Applications of a Geovisual Analytics Framework

    Author : Quan Ho; Mikael Jern; Gennady Andrienko; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; GeoVisual Analytics; toolkits; frameworks; web-enabled; visualization; interactive visualizations; interaction; interaction techniques; visual data analysis; component architecture; storytelling;

    Abstract : The large and ever-increasing amounts of multi-dimensional, multivariate, multi-source, spatio-temporal data represent a major challenge for the future. The need to analyse and make decisions based on these data streams, often in time-critical situations, demands integrated, automatic and sophisticated interactive tools that aid the user to manage, process, visualize and interact with large data spaces. 2. 2. Bank branches and Entrepreneurship : A spatial analysis of new firm formation in Swedish regions and industries in a changing financial landscape

    Author : Cynthia Sin Tian Ho; Björn Berggren; Mikaela Backman; KTH; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; New firm formation; entrepreneurship; financing; bank branches; proximity; spatial analysis; GWR; Sweden; Business Studies; Företagsekonomi;

    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis is to analyse how bank branch closure has affected the formation of new firms and to explore the varying local relationships between the accessibility of bank branches and new firm formation in 290 Swedish municipalities. In the first paper, the effect of bank branch closure is examined through spatial econometric analysis, in particular, the fixed effects and the random effects spatial panel models. READ MORE

  3. 3. Modelling object-oriented dynamic systems using a logic-based framework

    Author : Choong-ho Yi; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computer science; Datavetenskap; Information Systems;

    Abstract : We observe that object-oriented (OO) formalisms and specification languages are popular and obviously useful, and, in particular, that they are increasingly used even for systems that change over time. At the same time, however, the system specification is not precise enough in these approaches. READ MORE

  4. 4. Cell Sorting in Pillar Arrays based on Electrokinetics and Morphology

    Author : Bao Dang Ho; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell Sorting; Label-Free Separation; Deterministic Lateral Displacement; Electrokinetics; Fysicumarkivet A:2018:Dang Ho;

    Abstract : Deterministic Lateral Displacement (DLD) is a method capable of sorting cells based on size where mechanicalinteractions between a sufficiently large particle and obstacles in a microfludic pillar array force the particle tofollow a different trajectory than their smaller counterparts, resulting in continuous lateral separation. To extendthe capability of DLD, electrical interaction between particles and pillars can be employed to complement themechanical interaction, making electrical/dielectric properties additional parameters for sorting. 5. 5. Empowering Empirical Research in Software Design: Construction and Studies on a Large-Scale Corpus of UML Models

    Author : Truong Ho-Quang; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Software Modeling; Software Design; Empirical Research; UML; Modeling Practices; Impacts of Modeling; Open Source System; Mining Software Repository; Data Mining; Data Curation; GitHub;

    Abstract : Context: In modern software development, software modeling is considered to be an essential part of the software architecture and design activities. The Unified Modeling Language (UML) has become the de facto standard for software modeling in industry. READ MORE
