21. Systematic design of glulam trusses
Abstract : The design of a structure should be regarded as the design of a system. In this licentiate thesis a method (concurrent engineering) for the design of systems is studied parallel with the development of the system itself. READ MORE

22. Lung hyaluronan and lung water in the perinatal period
Abstract : Hyaluronan is an important component of the lung extracellular matrix, with a high capacity for water immobilization, but information on perinatal changes in the lung hyaluronan concentration and their association with changes in the lung water content is limited. In this study, conducted both in rabbit pups and in human infants, we investigated changes in the hyaluronan concentration and distribution in the lung and in the lung water content after preterm or term birth, and changes produced by common antenatal and postnatal pathological conditions and treatments. 23. Sterically stabilised liposomes and related lipid aggregates : Fundamental studies on aggragate structure and stability
Abstract : Various aspects of and approaches towards the steric stabilisation of liposomes have been investigated, mainly by use of fluorescence techniques and cryo-transmission electron microscopy (cryo-TEM). It is shown that PEG(2000)-lipids can be incorporated in the liposome membrane up to a critical concentration of 8-10 mol% without any observable structural perturbations. READ MORE

24. The human-computer interface in commercial systems : Investigations of dialogue design factors and usability with alphanumeric display terminals
Abstract : When terminal based computer systems are incorporated in administrative processes, man-computer interface technology for many reasons becomes a crucial problem area. Terminal users ("terminalists") in such systems account for a vast number of terminal hours. READ MORE

25. Studies on streptococcal M proteins. Interactions with IgA and human complement regulators
Abstract : The human pathogenic bacterium Streptococcus pyogenes (group A Streptococcus) expresses several different virulence factors. Of these, the M protein is regarded as one of the most important, because it confers resistance to phagocytosis, allowing the bacterium to multiply in blood. READ MORE
