  1. 1. Tracking and predicting cognitive development using magnetic resonance imaging

    Author : Henrik Ullman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Neuroimaging of the developing brain has helped describing and quantifying many of the biological processes underlying cognitive development. The protracted development of higher order cognitive functions has allowed detailed description of their neural correlates. READ MORE

  2. 2. Quantifying image quality in diagnostic radiology using simulation of the imaging system and model observers

    Author : Gustaf Ullman; Michael Sandborg; Gudrun Alm Carlsson; Nicolas Pallikarakis; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiology; radiation physics; image quality; optimisation; effective dose; chest radiography; Radiological physics; Radiofysik;

    Abstract : Accurate measures of both clinical image quality and patient radiation risk are needed for successful optimisation of medical imaging with ionising radiation. Optimisation in diagnostic radiology means finding the image acquisition technique that maximises the perceived information content and minimises the radiation risk or keeps it at a reasonably low level. 3. 3. Characterization of the inner nuclear membrane protein Samp1, during interphase and mitosis

    Author : Veronica J. Larsson; Einar Hallberg; Katharine S. Ullman; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Samp1; LINC complex; nuclear lamina; MCLIP; nuclear envelope; spindle assembly; spindle stability; k-fiber; gamma tubulin; Aurora B; Haus6; Augmin; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi; Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology;

    Abstract : The nucleus, a hallmark in eukaryotic cells, contains the genome separating it from molecules in the cytoplasm. The nucleus is surrounded by a nuclear envelope consisting of two concentric membranes, the outer nuclear membrane and the inner nuclear membrane, the nuclear lamina and nuclear pore complexes. 4. 4. Reframed Identity : Red Cross nurses' identity formation between 1945 and 1977

    Author : Trine Jønland Højsgaard; Anders Gustavsson; Annika Ullman; Per Ekstrand; Marja Schuster; Berit Berg; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Occupational identity; nurse training; hermeneutics; total institution; pedagogik; Education;

    Abstract : The overall aim is to explore the construction of nurse identity at the Red Cross Nursing School (RCNS) in Sweden, between 1945 and 1977, when nursing became part of the system of higher education in Sweden. Occupational identity is understood as a construct both of social learning and of a self-image. READ MORE

  5. 5. Procedural and Declarative Memory in Children with Developmental Disorders of Language and Literacy

    Author : Martina Hedenius; Margareta Jennische; Jonas Persson; Michael T Ullman; Elena Plante; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Specific Language Impairment; Developmental Dyslexia; Procedural memory; Declarative memory; Implicit sequence learning;

    Abstract : The procedural deficit hypothesis (PDH) posits that a range of language, cognitive and motor impairments associated with specific language impairment (SLI) and developmental dyslexia (DD) may be explained by an underlying domain-general dysfunction of the procedural memory system. In contrast, declarative memory is hypothesized to remain intact and to play a compensatory role in the two disorders. READ MORE
