  1. 1. Welding of Ti-6Al-4V: Influence of welding process and alloy composition on microstructure and properties

    Author : Sakari Tolvanen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fatigue; microstructure; Ti-6Al-4V; porosity; welding; defects;

    Abstract : Titanium alloys are widely used for components in the fan and compressor sections of aeroengines mainly because of their superior strength-to-weight ratio. Large static compressor components can be manufactured by welding together smaller subcomponents, which has potential to provide benefits such as higher buy-to-fly ratio and improved performance of the components. 2. 2. Influence of multiple welding cycles on microstructure and corrosion resistance of a super duplex stainless steel

    Author : Vahid Hosseini; Leif Karlsson; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Super duplex stainless steel; autogenous TIG welding; multiple welding thermal cycles; sensitization; nitrogen loss; sigma phase; ferrite content; production technology; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Abstract : Super duplex stainless steel (SDSS) has found a wide use in demanding applications such as offshore, chemical and petrochemical industries thanks to its excellent combination of mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. Welding of SDSS, however, is associated with the risk of precipitation of secondary phases and formation of excessive amounts of ferrite in the weld metal and heat affected zone. READ MORE

  3. 3. The Prevalence of Radioactivity in a Number of Non-Nuclear Industries

    Author : Torbjörn Gäfvert; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; zircon; ceramics industry; thorium; TIG welding; waterworks; calcium chloride; dicalcium phosphate; phosphate industry; non-nuclear industries; TENORM; Natural radioactivity; NORM;

    Abstract : Four different non-nuclear industries have been investigated regarding the presence of radioactive elements, with the focus on natural radioactivity. The aim of the studies was to investigate the flow of radionuclides in the processes and/or to estimate doses to exposed workers. READ MORE

  4. 4. Laser welding of aluminium alloys

    Author : Tomas Forsman; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Manufacturing Systems Engineering; Produktionsutveckling;

    Abstract : This thesis treats laser welding of aluminium alloys from a practical perspective with elements of mathematical analysis. The theoretical work has in all cases been verified experimentally. The aluminium alloys studied are from the 5xxx and 6xxx groups which are common for example in the automotive industry. READ MORE

  5. 5. Aluminium alloy property data in engineering design

    Author : Joacim Hagström; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The vast amount of materials existing today and the fastdevelopment of new and modified ones make it favourable to haveaccess to computerised materials property data. The advantagesare fast access and the possibility to process datainstantaneous. READ MORE
