  1. 1. Synchrotron radiation from runaway electrons in plasmas

    Author : Adam Stahl; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; runaway electrons; critical electric field; fusion plasma physics; tokamak; synchrotron radiation;

    Abstract : Highly relativistic runaway electrons are of great concern in the area of fusion energy research, since their presence in tokamak plasmas have the potential to hinder the successful and stable operation of the device, and potentially cause severe structural damage. In this thesis, runaway electron generation dynamics is investigated using the newly developed efficient computational tool CODE. READ MORE

  2. 2. Momentum-space dynamics of runaway electrons in plasmas

    Author : Adam Stahl; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; synchrotron radiation; tokamak; critical electric field; non-linear collision operator; slide-away; runaway electrons; fusion-plasma physics;

    Abstract : Fast electrons in a plasma experience a friction force that decreases with increasing particle speed, and may therefore be continuously accelerated by sufficiently strong electric fields. These so-called runaway electrons may quickly reach relativistic speeds. READ MORE

  3. 3. On tribological design in gear tooth contacts

    Author : Ellen Bergseth; Ulf Olofsson; Karsten Stahl; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; friction; gear contact; gear manufacturing; surface boundary layers; surface topography; wear;

    Abstract : The correct tribological design will have a considerable effect on a gear’s service life and efficiency. The purpose of this thesis is to clarify the impact of variation in the gear tooth flank tribological system on the gear contact load capacity – to increase the understanding of how surface topography and lubricant interact. 4. 4. Inner Experience : An Analysis of Scientific Experience in Early Modern Germany

    Author : Andreas Rydberg; Mats Persson; Torbjörn Gustafsson Chorell; Kristiina Savin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; scientific experience; inner experience; inner senses; living experience; psychometrics; psychological experiments; cultura animi; spiritual exercise; meditation; aesthetics; Pietism; Enlightenment; Christian Wolff; Hermann Francke; Alexander Baumgarten; Georg Ernst Stahl; Friedrich Hoffmann; History of Sciences and Ideas; Idé- och lärdomshistoria;

    Abstract : In the last decades a number of studies have shed light on early modern scientific experience. While some of these studies have focused on how new facts were forced out of nature in so-called experimental situations, others have charted long-term transformations. READ MORE

  5. 5. Calibrating integration : studies on status, culture, knowledge and cooperation in acquisitions

    Author : Harun Emre Yildiz; Handelshögskolan i Stockholm; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Acquisitions represent a common modus operandi of firm growth. Notwithstanding their lasting popularity, the majority of deals are reported to be unsuccessful. Given their prevalence and practical relevance, acquisitions have attracted scholarly interest from diverse academic disciplines and traditions. READ MORE
